... State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC)... State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC) ...Block of 43 No. 3d Newspaper package Tickets. Was originally a block of 50 two part printed ticket, using red ink on 60gsm cream paper with the top half part having a part gummed back, stapled with a single staple at the top onto a cardboard sheet. The ticket butt has the form number "TYE 3-17". The top portion was to be affixed to the newspaper package to be carried. It has the name of the organisation (SECV), "Newspaper Package Ticket 3d", conditions of carriage and ticket number, prefixed with the letter B. The first seven tickets have been removed or used. All the lower tickets have been torn from the top half of the block, it would appear in they were damaged. Was originally a block of 50 two part printed tickets, using red ink on 60 gsm gold paper with the top half part having a part gummed back, stapled with a single staple at the top onto a brown cardboard sheet. The ticket butt has the form number "TYE 2-9". The top portion was to be affixed to the parcel to be carried. It has the name of the organisations (SECV), "Parcel Check 3d", conditions of carriage and ticket number, prefixed with the letter Ba. The first nine tickets have been removed or used. The lower portion was retained by the sender, was to be initialled by the conductor, "Parcel Check 3d", conditions of use, ticket number and a space where to be initialled by the conductor. Lower portions not on block are 8659 to 8564, though 8561 present loose. Tickets in full book numbered on both portions from Ba008650 to Ba008699. Book, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), Instructions or Rules to Motormen, post 1945
... State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC)... Commission of Victoria (SEC) ...Handmade book with light green covers made from a cut file holder with brown paper glued on the inside, containing 39 typed (original) sheets of paper giving Instructions or Rules to Motormen. Has five page index, then 34 pages, with 104 rules or instructions, covering Tramcar Equipment (electrical), location of faults, tramcar braking, failure of the mechanical brakes, tramcar emergency braking, automatic braking, automatic electric signals and general instructions for Ballarat. The brown paper appears to have been placed on the outside, as it is cut and glued on the inside of the book. Individual sheets held into the book with a metal clip. On the rear of the book, a small piece of cardboard has been glued over the back of the metal strip. Notes mentions bogie trams, so therefore post 1945. Gives details of route electric signals, use of doors on the trams relevant to the central median strip. On page 4, has hand drawn diagram showing the motors in series and parallel. On page 8 has a hand drawn diagram showing the car lighting circuit arrangements. Has been folded in the middle so as to store in pockets of a coat. Issued to crews.Booklet with orange card cover and 12 pages, numbered 1 to 10, side stapled, off set printed giving details of fares, revised in June 1963 for both Ballarat and Bendigo, to come into force on 1/8/1963. Has details of sections etc. Was shown as being approved by the Governor in Council on 25/6/1963. Adjust the City Section fares only. See Alan Bradley notes in references re this. Full pdf copy added 28/5/2019. Alan Bradley advised 25/4/2005. In the "Courier" of 26/6/1963, the adjustments to fares from 1/8/1963 were announced. They were only for adjustments to city section fares. Fares outside the city area remained unchanged. The SEC promoted these as being cheaper city section fares. Tom Evans gave me a copy of a poster showing a Scotsman boarding a tram. The caption was: "Now! It's cheaper to travel by tram! Beats walking every time!" New economy city fares. Timetables Tram Services State Electricity Commission of Victoria ...Demonstrates the last timetable issued for Ballarat Tramways and yields information about tram services.285 - Three page photo copy of the final timetable for tram services in Ballarat for the SECV issued March 1970. Page 1 - Sunday, p2 - Saturday, p3 - weekdays. Gives IN and OUT times for each route and notes if from depot etc. Understood to be SECV photocopy. 285.1 - ditto, but actual wax stencil copy on duplicating paper used by Driver / Conductor J. Everett. Has been folded into 8. This copy used in image files. Item added 2/2/2003. 285.2 - ditto - three copies of SECV copies given to the BTPS at the time of closure. Staple horizontally in top left hand corner and marked in ink - see Inscriptions. Items added 9/3/2004. 285.3 - ditto wax stencil or duplicated copy - unmarked. Item added 22/08/2004. 285.4 - ditto but Saturday timetable sheet marked in red or blue ink to show run numbers? Item added 22/08/2004. State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC)... of Victoria (SEC) ...Yields information about one of the first two maximum traction bogie trams in Ballarat in October 1945 after it had been repainted for use in Ballarat by the SEC and the Lake / depot area at the time.Black and white photograph of SEC (bogie No. 22), in Wendouree Parade passing depot junction, has destination of Victoria St. Tram later renumbered to 37 in 1951. (See Destination Eaglehawk, p7) Original of photograph, SEC held by Alan Bradley has been cropped. Had a canoe on the right hand side, which is referred to in the interpretation panel at the Gardens Loop 474.1 - shows the canoe. Both punch marks 1 & 3, nipped as well. Ticket No. Ba171452. In 1944,45 or 46 Friday 24 Jan did not occur - see attached calendar sheet - a perpetual calendar of the Internet 1/97 but would have occurred during 1947. Possibly left over stock from previous three years being finished off?
