Domestic Object - Butter dish, Cambridge, 1960's
Yields information about the SEC's provision of awards to employees for 12 months of safety and has a strong association with the person that the award was granted to.Two piece butter dish - nickel plated silver tray with an "Electricity Supply Department" badge glued to the dish with the SEC logo and words "Safety Award" and a glass dish - fluted that acts as a butter or jam dish. Advised by Donor, that following the award - 12 months without an accident, he was involved in one the following day. Stamped on rear of dish "Cambridge A1 Quality". 5 grave stones of the VBP mass grave in Cherang Ruku
This 5 grave stones of the VBP mass grave in Cherang Ruku were built by the UN-HCR. As told by the local old man, Mr Lim at 80 years old, in 2010, who was in charge of burying these victims from the first day, he confirmed that there were 139 bodies buried by himself. It can accepted that because the name list of the boat was lost during sinking, the name list angraved on the stones was collected by UN HCR member by interviewing the victims who could identified victims. Furthermore the dead bodies, as told by Mr Lim, were washed ashore not in one day. The local residents could not contact to report to the UN HCR many after the accident, what they could do was that they had to quicly bury the decomposed bodies. As told by vitims of the MT065, about 2 - 3 days after the accident, they were called to the beach to identify the bodies. No way they could identify the body because it was swollen and decomposed. Functional object - Tramcar Conductors (Signal) Bell
Recovered by the donor, with approval of the Depot Foreman, from the wreckage in the SEC Ballarat yard from the demolished Tram No. 20 that was involved in a collision on 16/9/1970. One of the support members, near the bell striker has been broken through and the area where it was secured to the roof of the tram at the same end has been bent. This may be the result of the accident. JS - John Stephenson of New York?Demonstrates a conductors communication bell made by or for use on Melbourne tramcars. A reminder of SEC Tram No. 20 which was involved in a major accident in Victoria St on 16/9/1970Brass Conductor Signal or Communication Bell, consisting of cast frame, bell, striker, bell pull part, one nut to secure the bell to the frame and a screwed bolt for the bell pull part. Has a section of leather bell cord and a leather bell cord hanging piece. Has the initials "JS" cast in both ends that were used to secure the bell to the roof. He was killed in a car accident on the banks of the Yarra River. The race is a combined division race from RBYC to the QCYC. Vehicle - HR Holden hearse
This hearse was produced by General Motors in 1966 as a Station Wagon. After major modifications were carried out to extend the body to enable the coffin to be placed into the back of the vehicle. Interestingly to note that the vehicle, on a delivery to Traralgon, was involved in an accident in the Haunted Hills near Moe, the next town to Moe. This hearse spent most of its life servicing the Traralgon Township and was subsequently purchased and restored and sold to the museum. The vehicle has special significance in that it is an extremely well presented Holden Hearse that was formally modified after manufacture .There were very few Holden Hearses used in Australia and good examples are difficult to find.Black extended body 3 door hearse.Registration plate STIFHR1966 hearse, vehicle, holden, car -

Cheetham book, 1898
James Cheetham was both secretary of the Shire of Bet Bet and a councillor for the Borough of Tarnagulla. He was the Mayor of Tarnagulla for four years. James also entered the Victorian parliament and was the MLA for the Dunolly Electorate from 1 April 1889 to 1 June 1890. This meant he was holding three positions at the same time. James died in 1890 from injuries received in a buggy accident. Murray Comrie Collection. A notebook associated with the Cheetham family of Tarnagulla. Some parts have been used as a school exercise book (writing practise, latin verbs, grammar rules) others have been used for early drafts of official letters relating to Council business, mostly in 1898. Also contains a child's drawings. Some pages are cut or torn. Author of letter drafts is J.D. Cheetham. The child/school parts are probably all by Annie M. Mrs Eliza Jeeves, wife of Ellis Jeeves, standing in the garden outside the Mountjoy Guest House in Kalorama. Eliza was one of six daughters of Thomas Hand and Eliza Hand, (nee Erith) who owned the Mountain Grange property. Eliza and Ellis ran the Mountjoy Guest House from 1908 and Eliza ran it alone after Ellis's death in a buggy accident in 1921 until just before her death in 1943. Newspaper - CENTRAL DEBORAH GOLD MINE MINING FATALITY
Newspaper article and typed copy of same, detailing the fatal accident that occurred at the mine on the 22nd January 1953, in which Herbert Hunter of Kangaroo Flat was killed. ' Hunter was working at No 16 level at a depth of 1270 feet from the surface and about 500 feet south from the shaft when a large piece of stone , estimated to wrigh about one ton, broke away. Yields information about tramway accidents in Drummond St Ballarat, during the SEC era and in particular on in 1941 when a tram was derailed and hit a tree resulting in substantial damage. Significance is reduced by the quality of the photocopy but gives the source details.Photocopy of a photograph that appeared in The Age Melbourne newspaper of 2-12-1941 of tram No. 24 that had collided with a truck at corner of Drummond Sth and Dana St the previous day.
