Lottie Bulmer (wife of Mr Frank Bulmer, Orbost) originally owned the massager. It was given to Di Cunningham by her sister Barbara who married Les Bulmer, Lottie and Frank's son,. After Les died, Barbara gave it to Di Cunningham, her sister, Di kept it for about a year. Pifco manufactured personal massaging equipment between 1948 and about 1968 (the first appeared about 1935).These devices were promoted as being able deal with all kinds of complaints, from headaches, pain relief and flatulence to hair loss and gout. Box cameras were first produced in the late 19th century and were intended to be used by amateur photographers. This type of camera was a simple one with the lens at one end and the film at the other and the provision for 12 photographic plates. The spring-loaded lens folded into the camera and one side of the box served as a base for the lens to sit on. Cameras of this size and shape were made until the mid 1920s. This camera case is retained for display purposes.This is a wooden rectangular box which is covered in black leather. The box is a camera case and has a top lid with metal hinges and metal clips and five glass apertures. There are two knobs or buttons which were originally adjustable mechanisms and the remnants of a leather strap on one side of the box. The leather on the outside is partially torn away. Inside the box the photographic mechanisms and the lens are missing but there is a part of the metal spring still evident. This item represents a period in time when there was the start by manufacturing industry for targeting the medium to lower socio and economic strata of the purchasing public. It was the beginning of cheaper mass produced items for the non professional (photographer in this instance) recreational minded public. The availability of low cost items was required by an ever increasing population hungering for the "do it yourself" amateur.This camera was owned by Margaret (Peg) Shefford nee Turner, who retired to Mount Beauty in the mid 1980s. The camera was purchased in 1920 and used up to the 1940's when her her daughter, Midge Clooney used it. When the Shefford family emigrated from England to Australia (1953), it was used to take photos of the ship voyage.This item is a Campfire Box Brownie. Model "F". These cuff links were produced for the Warrnambool City Council presumably to give as gifts to visiting dignitaries etc. They may also have been available for the public to purchase. Warrnambool, first settled in 1847, was proclaimed a Municipality in 1856, a Borough in 1863, a Town in 1883 and a City in 1918. These cuff links are of minor interest as an example of an item produced for the Warrnambool City Council – to use either as gifts or to sell to the public as a memento of the city. These are round metal cufflinks (2) outlined in gold with gold pins (two prongs and a bar) for attachment to the shirt sleeves. The cuff links have the City of Warrnambool logo with gold, blue and cream printing and enamelling. The cuff links are in a plastic box which has a white base and a clear plastic lid and red velvet lining. This item is a boxed set of teaspoons from the Rodd Silverware Company. G. & E. Rodd Pty Ltd was founded in Melbourne in 1919 and by the 1930s it was the leading manufacturing jewellery business in Australia. In 1948 the business was taken over by Max Rodd, the son of one of the founders and by that time it was known mostly for its household silverware. Rodd products were very popular wedding presents in the mid 20th century. This item has no known local significance but is retained as an excellent example of the Rodd Silverware that was found in so many households in Australia in the early to mid 20th century. It will be useful for display.This is a black leather-bound box with a gilt rim around the edge of the lid. The lid is attached to the box by two metal clips. One of these is broken. The box has a gilt metal clasp for closing the box. The box is lined inside with purple satin material and contains five electro plated nickel silver teaspoons. There should be six in the set but one spoon is missing. The spoons are held in grooves cut into a purple block across the middle of the inside of the box (perhaps made of wood). At the time of sale, the last of the Hirst family to work in the mill located in Geelong gave Donald (donor Bruce's father) Doherty a set of scales that had been used by several generations of Hirsts and adapted by them over time for specific use in their mill. These Scales were saved from waste and being thrown away at the time of sale to remain in use in the industry in the hands of someone who knew how to use them. The scales were used in calculating the weight of cloth and simultaneously calculating the amount of yarn required to weave it following the instructions printed within the box. The box bears the signatures of two Hirst family members, one being Lewis Hirst dated at 1898. The original brass pole has been replaced with a replica metal somewhere throughout the years after the brass pole broke through use. Hirst was brought by McKendrick in the 1960s and these scales sat for 12 months as part of the 12 month "cooling off" period. The scales were then handed to Donald rather than being disposed of.Scales used for weighing and calculating weight and thread count of textile samples. The collection of thirteen model horse drawn vehicles were carefully handmade by Mr Chas W Davis 1925 - 2002. He was a talented artist and saw doctor. This model of a horse drawn Piano Box Buggy replicates the vehicle that enjoyed respect from the public during the 1880 and early 1900's. A model of a red and black Piano Box Buggy c.1860 which was a lightweight two wheeled one passenger open horse drawn carriage with a black canopy roof where the driver sat behind. It has two large and two smaller gold painted spoked wheels with black rims, brown painted seating, two gold coach lamps and a black patterned footrest in front of the driver. The canopy has thin gold struts to open and close it depending on the weather. There are two long brown wooden shafts on each side to surround the horse. It has a model of a biscuit coloured horse with a white tail and mane with the necessary horse tack for carriage use to help the driver communicate with the horse. It was also known as the 'Bonner Buggy' and had many variations. Coach builders designed and made their own style, giving it their own name. Sir Frederic W. Hewitt (1857-1916), an accomplished and well respected English anesthesiologist, was an expert in the function and use of the Clover Ether Inhaler. In 1901, Hewitt described his modification of the Clover Inhaler. Often referred to as the Hewitt Wide-Bore Inhaler, Dr. Hewitt introduced changes in order to make it easier to breathe through the device and improve the ventilation of oxygen and carbon dioxide. In 1901, Hewitt was recruited to anesthetize King Edward VII for emergency abdominal surgery. This was just a day or so before the new King was to be coronated. He recovered well, and Hewitt became the first anesthesiologist ever to be knighted. (Source: Wood Library Museum)Tall black round topped box with brass hooks at the sides and brass hinges at rear. There is a brown fabric handle on the top. The box has red padding inside the lid and red lining inside the base and sides. There is a round section in the base of the box for holding the round clear glass bottle for ether. There is also a ellipse-shaped metal inhaler on small metal base with a thin metal handle and pipe with bakelite plug attached via a small metal chain.
