Ballarat Tramway Museum (BTM)... tickets - 1/- Ephemera Ticket/s Ballarat Tramway Museum (BTM) ...Demonstrates the Museums phasing out of tickets priced for the actual fare and conversion to a universal ticket that does not have to be changed for a fare increase. Block of 100 tickets - green ink on off white paper, denomination 1/- (1 shilling), headed Ballarat Vintage Tramway. On rear in green ink are details of the Ballarat Tramway Museum, slogan and web address. The 100 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. 1622 - A00001 to A00100 (the first block collected at the time of issue 3/1/1991 - 81H x 36H 1622.1 - A20601 to A20700 - 2nd print run of tickets, collected at the time of issue - 25/7/1993 - 81H x 33H 1622.2 - A70801 to A70900 - 3rd print run of tickets, collected at time of issue 1/2001 - 82H x 37W The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. The 1/- tickets used for Adult passengers, to save printing new tickets each time the fares changed. Commenced used end Jan. 1991. Prepared by Peter Walker. The first version was issued 1/11/1989. see item 8875. Was collected from the depot 1/2001 when a new version of the Guidelines was issued. In use from c1990 to 2001 as a sample copy and loaned to new conductors. Document originally prepared by Peter Walker, who passed away 24/9/2005 - see Reg Item 6838 for Obituary.Demonstrates BTPS documentation for crew use.Folder containing in plastic sheets, the 1/5/1990 version of the Ballarat Vintage Tramway Operating Guidelines. The document is a photocopied version of "Issue 2 / 1.5.90" on yellow paper. It consists of 33 sheets which have been amended in a number of places to adjust for cash floats, fares, museum sales tin. A4 size sheet of paper, printed up as a BTPS (BTM) conductor's Revenue Journal for Adults fares as 60c, Children 30 and all day cards $1.20. Standard BTPS Revenue Journal format that was altered as necessary for the various fares. Known as form T2. Fares were 60c/30c from 1/11/1980 to 31/10/1985. Form would have been printed about Nov. 1980 and used to after the next fare rise as stocks were exhausted and the revised fares marked in by hand. Two copies held. Form titled for the "Ballarat Tramways". Scrap Book - with printed cardboard covers - titled scrap book on outside and reproductions of newspaper clippings printed onto covers, 64 pages off white paper. Scrap book compiled by Neville Gower from Nov. 1992 to June 1997. Primarily consists of newspaper clippings glued to the pages involving the Ballarat Tramway Museum. Also contained are other items of relevant interest, such as BTM brochures. Pages number in pencil by Warren Doubleday 2/2001. Where relevant some items contained in this book have been separately catalogued to enable easier reference. Some items were already in the collection and are thereby reference with their registered number. Also contains registered items 1659, 1654 and 1655. A4 folded pamphlet, brochure, titled "Ballarat's Horse Trams" produced originally for the October 1994 CHHA exhibition at the Ballarat Drill Hall at which the Horse tram was displayed outside. Printed by a laser printer on A4 paper - yellow - featuring a vertical photo of the horse tram near Windmill Drive North, unloading the body of No. 1 in 1985 at the depot and inaugural running in 1992. Also has a membership application form for the BTM. Gives a brief history of the horse trams in Ballarat and the reconstruction of the vehicle itself. Was also produced for handing out to the public at the depot. Produced by Warren Doubleday. See Reg Item 6217 for the 2015 version. Covers the history of the horse trams, the electrification by the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria, (ESCo) the takeover by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), closure in 1971, the formation of the BTPS and the operation of the tramway. Functional Object - Tramcar component, Duncan and Fraser, 1887?
Bell portion of a tramcar conductor's bell. Approximately. 100mm diameter, about 35mm deep with a raised or bossed hole at the top 4.5mm at the top. Bell possibly cast or pressed brass, appears to have been damaged or repaired due to excess brass in portion of the bell and on the underside where signs of brass welding are apparent. If from a horse tram, would have most likely been made by Duncan and Fraser of Adelaide SA. 2225.1 Title sheet to the "Rolling stock roster" section of a scrap book titled "Ballarat Tramways", dated 1971. Lettered in blue ball point pen and underlined in red. 2225.2 - Section titled "Single Tramcar' (Single truck trams) and detailing the use, number and where the tram was taken to, or disposed to from Ballarat following closure. Lists 16 tramcars. Trams 31 and 32 were shown as SEC Creswick Road. 31 - later to (Kaniva > Haddon > USA). Lettered in blue ink or pencil with red lining. 32 - Maryborough, then to BTM Collection. 2225.3 - Section titled "Bogie Tramcar' and detailing the use, number and where the tram was taken to, or disposed to from Ballarat following closure.
