Established in 1897, Baker and Woods were initially electricians. The property in Hargreaves was taken over by a saddler and Baker and Woods moved to premises at 313 Hargreaves Street. The business expanded to include photographic equipment, phonographs and phot development. In 1903, Baker and Woods were responsible for converting the gas lighting in the Bendigo Town Hall to electricity. A fire caused by a short circuit caused extensive damage to the building in 1914.Baker & Woods Electrical Engineers and Photo Stock Dealers. Cream paper with Black print. The Bank of Victoria was located at 7a Liebig Street, Warrnambool. The building still exists in 2023 as a part of the Quest apartments. The Warrnambool Mechanics' Institute was formed in 1859 and the first reading room opened in 1884. Responsibility for all activities of the Warrnambool Mechanics' Institute activities were formally handed over to the Warrnambool city Council on 27th July 1911. This Bank of Victoria Limited passbook documents credits and debits of the Warrnambool Mechanics' Institute & Free Library from December 1904 until 30th June 1911 just prior to the transfer to the Warrnambool City Council. The recipient of this medal is believed to be VX44669 Private James Robert Clancy of Thougla Upper which was in the Shire of Upper Murray. Private Clancy was born in Sandy Creek on 30 August 1903 enlisted in the Army on 8 July 1940 and was discharged on 8 March 1943. He served in the Signals Section of the 2nd Australian Anti-Aircraft Regiment.Municipalities in Australia recognised their residents who enlisted in World Wars by the issue of some form of recognition. This is a nice example of a medallic form of such recognition.A collection of items presented by the family of WWll Australian Army serviceman James Robert Clancy VX44669. Clancy was a signalman in the 2/2 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment. Refer to items 00456.1, 00456.2, 00456.3 and 00456.4. -

Trafalgar Day (21 October) was chosen to inaugurate the stone. The ceremony was performed by Lady Fraser who had generously organised a Fete in her property Norla to raise the funds for the dome. "Owing to the recent death of Simon Fraser (30 July 1919), the ceremony was as simple as possible." according to the Australian dating from the 25th October 1919.Probably due to humidity and the apparent lack of thickness, the stone has become brittle and is now completely lost. John Ferrier was employed on the farm of the Sundermans. In July 1900 he shot Alice Aubrey, sister of Mrs Sunderman, at Dawson near Heyfield. She was shot in the back whilst hanging out the washing. Defence was temporary insanity which was hereditary in his family. Heywood Waterworks Trust was constituted on 20 November 1962 upon application by Councillors of the Shire of Portland to construct, manage and maintain the works for the supply of water to the township of Heywood. The Trust was abolished on 1 July 1984 under the Water and Sewerage (Restructuring) Act 1983 when it amalgamated with the Heywood Sewerage Authority to form Heywood Water BoardA cast iron seal press, . This was used by Heywood Waterworks Trust to emboss agreements and official documents. Die is still attached to the press. It reads: Heywood Waterworks Trust 1963Small metal machine painted black and mounted onto a black rubber base. Two dies are attached with the seal of Heywood Waterworks Trust. Paper is placed between the dies, the handle depressed and the seal embossed on the paper under pressure as a blind (inkless) embossing.
