Collingwood Technical School trained apprentices in many trades. CTS was also invlved in Training Schemes during the late 1930s and during World War II. These photographs depict some of the machines and machine parts built in class. These are high quality professional photographs taken circa 1940-1943. a. Book with a mottled blue-grey cover with brown leather spine and extends 5.5 cm to front and back. Corner edges also had the leather, two are missing and the other two are dilapidated. A red stuck on tape near the top of the spine had Ledger printed with some gold edging, most of which is worn off. Inside the front and back covers is a red, blue and white marble pattern. Entries in black ink on all pages and date from 1888 to 1920. Loose 4 page foolscap inside front cover listing Rolling Stock and Value. b. A pocket in the back of the book contains 6 pieces of paper relating to business and finance. Items include Discounts and Commission from 1888 to 1899, a note on insurance, a note dated June 2/90 headed Mr A Bush Sandhurst Dr to S A Bush & Co listing monthly amounts of money from Jan 1890 and 1889. Some amounts are with the name G P Reddie.Another one is a Building A/C dated 1889. Another is a balance sheet written on a page with another one written on the back and dated 1893. One written on paper headed Bush's Stores, Main Street, Bairnsdale and printed S.A.Bush & Co. It looks like a list of repayments listed in 8 bills. The other side of the page refers to Bill of Sales for Yeates & Baker and Bill of Sales held by the Bank of New South Wales. There is also a copy of two letters addressed to A Bush, one dated Oct 17.06 from H Hopkins referring to the late Mr Baker's property in Sale. This cup was presented by the Geelong West Amateur Cycling Club to the cyclist with the fastest time in 1934. It was donated by the Radford family.Cup won by Eric Radford in a race promoted by the Geelong West Amateur Cycling Club in 1934. The professional Geelong West Cycling Club included an amateur chapter in the middle 1930s at a time when amateurism was flourishing. Eric Radford went on the set up in business in the cycle trade in Elizabeth street Geelong West until the middle 1970s.Silver cup with a handle to each side. The tin was designed and used by the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. to store and sell golden syrup which is a by-product of cane sugar, molasses and treacle. The tin was used after the introduction of metric weights and measures.A yellow, red, brown, white and black tin used to sell and store golden syrup. The kilogram tin has the words 'golden syrup' printed in large red letters. Photograph was found by a friend of the donor. Rear of photo has a stamp for "Ritter-Jeppesen Studio, 111 Lonsdale Street Melbourne", which would indicate that it was made between 1940-1962. Image appears to be of staff working at mending tables in an unknown woollen mill.Black and white photo attached to a light brown backing board. Rug was given to NWM from another museum in Western AustraliaTartan rug with cream base, featuring pattern with blue, black, green, yellow and red believed to be the Dress Stewart tartan pattern. From the collection of a family who had three generations that worked for Dennys Lascelles. This is a catalogue describing the Mossgiel estate for an upcoming auction which was going to be held through the Dennys Lascelles Company. Mossgiel was built for or owned by Brigadier-General Robert Smith, who (I believe) was the founder of the Returned Soldiers & Sailors Mill in Newtown.Cream/pale yellow coloured paper booklet with maroon/brown text and border on front page, "Mossgiel" text in centre. 6 pages, bound with two metal staples on spine.
