The Doutta Galla Hotel in the background. On the left of the bridge is Newmarket Station and on the right of the photo is the fence of the stockyards. The bridge has an advert for Wolfes Schnapps and Blue? Label Tea. On the embankment is a sign for Life Guard Life Insurance? A lady is waiting at the tram stop. The photo is part of the VR Advertising series, made to show advertisers where signs could go. image i2 - cropped image showing the tramcar by itself. .2 and .3 - Z3 class 209 in about the same position, with a large KIA motor vehicle advertisement. The yellow crash beams and truck parking bay are a result of too many large trucks hitting the bridge. Used as a destination or auxiliary board on Sandringham trams and buses that operated from the Sandringham railway station tram/bus depot. Tram and bus services were operated by the Victorian Railways. Have been letter Beaumaris Express and Beaumaris Express Black Rock which indicate more bus rather than trams.Demonstrates destination signs used by the Victorian Railways on their Sandringham services. Functional object - Sandringham tramway - section staff, 1920s
Item used on the Victorian Railways Sandringham - Black Rock tram line for the short section of the single track of the line between the railway station in Station Street and the depot entrance in Bay Road. Tram drivers were required to carry this to prevent a head-on collision on the single-line section. Image 3 shows the driver placing the item in the "staff box" outside the depot. Image from the DVD "VR Tramways in the 1950s", with permission from Effectch the Producer. Manila folder, Wotan flat file, with built in fold back metal clips (see images 19 and 20) holding 9 plastic sheets that have been made to hold railway (Edmondson pasteboard) or tramway paper tickets. Sheet 1 - 25 No. MMTB tickets, ranging from 3d to 2/6 and two decimal conversion tickets, including 5 tickets which have been overstamped "City Section". On the rear are adverts for Blind Babies (Royal Victorian Institute for the blind), John Randle hair salon, Leighton home builders and the Promote Thomastown Committee. Sheet 2 - 25 No. MMTB tickets - decimal currency - two conversion tickets and other decimal currency tickets ranging from 6c to 25c. Included are 6 overstamped City Section tickets. Sheet 3 - 25 No. MMTB decimal currency tickets - ranging from 25c to $1 with one ticket overstamped "City Section". Includes one ticket with a red P overstamp. Titled "Routes and Time tables showing first and last cars". On rear shows maps of lines for the Eastern, Southern, Connection to Beaches and the Essendon, Maribyrnong and West Coburg lines. Dated c1927, shows the St Kilda Road lines to electric. On the bottom right hand corner has a reference to the Tramway Tourist Car - and the tours it does. Tickets printed and issued by the Victorian Railways for the St Kilda to Brighton electric street railway or tramway. The line closed in sections with the last section between the railway station and Elwood Depot closing in 1959. All tickets numbered for accounting purposes.Yields information about the VR Ticketting System for its TramwayslSet of 7 Victorian Railways St Kilda Brighton ticket blocks. Printed on white sheets, stapled at the top with a large staple onto a cardboard backing strip. Each value in red ink with black print information. Each block has the ticket number printed on the stub of the ticket that remained with the block when torn off.
