Ron White was b. 1920. he received a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering at Footscray Technical School in 1946. He worked for the SECV from 1948 until 1985. In 1961 he was officially recognised as deputy for the General Superintendent, Kiewa. He was 'Principal Hydro Engineer, Hydro Division, Transmissions Operations Deparment - a position held until his retirement in 1985. Ron White studied engineering at Footscray Technical School. His books are part of his collection as he was principal Hydro Engineer from 1966 to 1985 with the SECV on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. He had a close association with the local communities and care for the welfare of employees. He lived at Mt Beauty and passed away on 30th September 2019, aged 99 years.1. x7 Charles Dickens novels. Falls Creek Snow Resort is on the Bogong High Plains in north east Victoria. It competes with other Australian snow resorts during Winter. The Mt Beauty Drama Group held concerts/ pantomimes at the Mt Beauty Community Centre. It was a valuable social outlet for the members because at that time the only entertainment in Mount Beauty was the pictures on a Saturday night. It was also an alternative to playing sport for some. The Mt Beauty swimming pool was first constructed in the early 1960s and opened on 7th January 1964. Currently the main pool is 'partially' heated and the area has a splash area for the children. The Kangaroo Hoppet is a long distance (42km) cross-country skiing race held annually at Falls Creek on the Bogong High Plains. The first race was held in 1979 and has been part of Worldloppet since 1991. It is held annually on the fourth Saturday of August. Linesmen worked on the SEC power towers erecting the towers and supplying lines. They were also responsible for the maintenance of the lines. In the early 1950s snow skiing was becoming more popular as indicated by these two books of 94 pages covering the snow fields in N.S.W., Victoria and Tawmania. The first publication was limited to the Kosciusko Alpine Club in 1928. The 1952 edition being the 25th issue. Due to the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme many SECV employees had access to the Bogong High Plains including Falls Creek. These books are of historical value as indicated by the advertisements for the resorts, the equipment in the snow eg. tows, skis and clothes being used at the time, the results of ski races, etc. The accommodation has also developed and attracted a variety of people. The articles include disasters, people involved in the sport and overseas updates. In the 1952 book relevant pages for the Bogong High Plains and Falls Creek are pages 36, 38, and 68-69. Trophies were awarded to recognise achievements in many areas of the school curriculum. Sir Kenneth George Luke (1896-1971) was a successful businessman and VFL football administrator. The Drawings were to be used for manufacture of all the components of the Pikrose engine.Some of the Pikrose Engine was manufactured by Austin Hopkinson and Co. Ltd. The drawings belonged to the SECV and were created in the 1950s.
