In the 1950s there was a move to bring some light industries into Sunbury. The large building in Barkly Street, which was used to make gloves and other items of clothing was taken over by the Yakka Company and boys shorts were made there. In the 1960s the Yakka Company moved to new and larger premises in Broadmeadows resulting of the closure of the Sunbury factory. Murray Comrie Collection. The house in this photo was once the residence of the Tarnagulla police officer. The town block where the house was originally built was the base for policing in Tarnagulla from 1878 until the 1990s. The house was built in 1878 as a residence and adjacent was a lockup, office and stable (shown in THA-2019.0031). This house was sold for removal in in the late 1960s and replaced with a prefabricated residence and small office brought from Bealiba. These as well as the lockup are still in place (as of 2019), but are no longer used. It is not known where this house was moved to. It is not known whether this photo was taken before or after the house was moved. Monochrome photograph of a house which was once the police residence in Tarnagulla. This is an example of Melbourne Legacy promotional material. Clive James was Personality of the Year in 1993, which was the 70th anniversary of Legacy. The logo said "Seventy years of constant caring 1923-1993". Clive had been a junior legatee as a boy. This A4 page could be used as a poster to promote badge week. The main time of year for fundraising is September when Legacy holds 'Badge Week'. Often there is a celebrity who gives his or her time as 'Personality of the Year'. Examples are Sir Weary Dunlop (1992), Clive James (1993), the Scott family (1994), The Emmanuel brothers (1995), Daryl Somers (1996 and 1997), and Patsy Adam Smith (1994?). The building was the residence of the engineer who was responsible of managing the early electric supply that was installed in Sunbury in 1909. The town's power supply put an end to gas lighting that had been used and homes had the benefit of having electricity connected to their homes. In 1926 the State Electricity Commission took over supplying electrical power to Sunbury. Testimonial dinner given by the Citizens of Ringwood under the auspices of the Ringwood Jaycees. They convened a public testimonial dinner recognising the public service rendered by Mr James W. Manson who held the seat of Ringwood in the Victorian State Parliament from 1958 until 1973. Held at Dorset Gardens Hotel, Croydon.Menu and programme for a Testimonial Dinner. Cream coloured folded light cardboard with blue printing. For Manson, James W.WEG (William Ernest Green) drew a caricature of Jim Manson in the programme.
