Kralcopic Pty Ltd, was a subsidiary of Bendigo-based company GBM Gold and had previously held mining licences around Bendigo, which incorporated sites including Kangaroo Flat, New Moon, Eaglehawk and the associated Woodvale Evaporation Ponds Complex. In August 2019, the Earth Resources Regulator decided not to renew Kralcopic’s three mining licences, due to the company’s inability to provide surety that it could finance its mining activities and site rehabilitation obligations. In October 2020, the company filed legal proceedings in the Supreme Court challenging the decision not to renew these licences. The Supreme Court later upheld the regulator’s decision not to renew the licences. On 23 April 2021, the Federal Court of Australia appointed KPMG as Kralcopic’s liquidators. On 14 May 2021, the liquidator lodged papers with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) to disclaim Kralcopic’s freehold land at Woodvale and parcels of land around the company’s former Bendigo sites, with the land to subsequently become Crown land. The Earth Resources Regulator has put a statutory exemption in place to preclude new mining licence applications on the sites while we undertake rehabilitation. The exemption also provides an opportunity for government to consider future uses of the sites in consultation with the City of Greater Bendigo and the local community. The Earth Resources Regulator holds rehabilitation bonds totalling $5.9 million, which it will use to rehabilitate the former sites.Colour photocopy of original photo. William Henry Gray was killed when a large slab of rock fell on his head at the Clarence Mine, Eaglehawk in April 1902. He was only aged 32 and left a widow and five children. Reply from BHS - extract from 'Bendigo and Vicinity' re a Frederick Clark (''not the one you are researching''. In Bendigo and vicinity a Frederick Clark is written as born in Warwickshire in October 1834, left England after being taught the building trade, in 1856, and assisted in erection of old university buuildings in Carlton. Arrived in Bendigo in 1857, became interested in building batteries for quartz mining, travelling throughout Victoria and New Zealand with mining interests. Frederick entered the Eaglehawk council in 1870. Twice married his eldest son George was in the Education Department, His stepson Richard Hamilton - mining manager in Arizona U.S.A. Track racing commenced at Canterbury Park in 1936. Prior to this racing was held at Epsom and was Plumpton (open field)style racing. At Canterbury Park racing was held over a 340 yard track and up to 20 bookmakers attended. Richard John Webb (c. 1832-1906) was the Senior Constable of the Chinese Constabulary in Bendigo in the 1850's. He was promoted to Dunolly and the rank of Sergeant in late 1860. In 1864 he was made the keeper of the gunpowder magazine at Dunolly. He married Kate Corbett in 1867 and they had 3 children; James Ramsay (1868-1929),Annie Harriet (1869-1950) and Kate Margaret Irene (1874-1963). Neither of the girls married and James became a doctor. Following his time at Dunolly, Webb was transferred to Eaglehawk and thence to Gippsland where he served at Bairnsdale. He retired as a Superintendent of Police and died in Melbourne. Album comprises heavy cardboard covers with brown Rexene covers, with inside papers of heavy dark grey photo album paper, 36 leaves of dark grey photo paper and two brass interscrews within black grommets. See Condition Details re damage to back cover. Album contains 32 photos - personal prints of Keith Kings. Title page has been hand written to Les Denmead, dated 6/7/1970, thanking Mr. Denmead for his assistance over the years. Photos divided into the three SEC Provincial Tramway cities, each with a typed name proceeding the set of photos. Two further photos of Geelong were at the rear of the album, but were not in position when catalogued. One of these photos may be Reg. Item 1874 - photo of Geelong scrubber tram. Each of the photographs have been separately registered, as shown in the table below. Scanned images made of front and back of the photos.
