The lectern is said to have been used by John Flynn ('Flynn of the Inland' - 1880 - 1951) when he was stationed in the Beech Forest - Lavers Hill area prior to his being ordained as a minister of the Presbyterian Church. Flynn arrived in Beech Forest in 1903 as a home missionary, and for around two years he conducted services in homes, camps and public halls in the Otways. "Today the Chalet lounges and hallways are stocked with a number of disparate furnishings of unknown provenance - table and chair settings... many ranging in styles from Edwardian and Art Deco periods. While they may appear to be original to the rooms, the items are not evident in any of the historic photographs surveyed in the course of this report, so their historical association with the Chalet does not appear to be strong and enduring. Some, including the Art Deco dining table and chairs in the Music Room ( MBC0038.2) ... appear to be domestic furnishings rather than those of a 'resort house'. The date this map was created has not been identified. It was possibly created at the time the Landsberg Estate near Blackwood was subdivided and sold into smaller lots in December 1886. This land once belonged to Robert Lawson who died in 1869. Lawson was a well known school teacher who founded Scotch College in Melbourne before setting up a school near Blackwood. This map is similar to another map in the BMDHS collection titled 'Landsberg Estate Blackwood' Victorian Collections record 459 and was possibly produced at the same time.Single page map showing land allotments which made up the Landsberg Estate near Blackwood. This plough plane is a hand tool that was used to cut grooves or rabbets into wood, for example for furniture construction. It was manufactured in Birmingham by Jenkins & Clark and imported or taken to Australia most likely in the nineteenth century. The several names imprinted into the tool imply that it may have been used by several unique owners at different points in time - J.O. Hart, Micl (likely Michael) Orgill, and D. Brown. Names may have been imprinted in the tool to prevent confusion in settings with many workers supplying their own tools.Unknown donor but assumed to have been used locally.Wooden plough plane with brass fittings. A public meeting was reported in the Charlton Tribune 1950, 19/05 deciding to erect a memorial to the late Sir Albert Dunstan. Setting an objective of 5000 pounds. The shire council had given 500 pounds as a lead. These medals were issued by the Town of Warrnambool in 1897 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Victoria of England. Walter John Hickford, the Mayor Warrnambool at that time, has his name on the medal. Walter Hickford (1855-1928) was a Warrnambool businessman, setting up a shop in Liebig Street in 1880, supplying the paint materials for householders, contactors, painters and artists. He also carried out decorative work in private homes, businesses and churches. Hickford was active in civic life in Warrnambool, serving as a Councillor from 1890 to 1903 and he was Mayor from 1895 to 1897.These medals are of considerable importance as they were produced for the Town of Warrnambool in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Jubilee. They have both a local and a wider national significance.,1These two circular bronze medals have profiles of Queen Victoria as a young woman and as a crowned monarch on the reverse and the Warrnambool Coat of Arms on the obverse. Superfex Camera - made of plastic with a Fexar Spec Optic made by Fritz Kaftanski. Originally made in Prague in Czechosovakia from 1938 - 1942. This camera was made in Lyon, France in 1942 after Company moved from Prague. This is shown on the lower right front of the camera. The back is removable using the two clips on each side. Provisions made for two spools - one blank, the other for the 127 film role. Shutter button on top front of camera. M & B lever for exposure settings is on the side.
