The handmade basket has a variety of pieces of vintage sewing items as listed in the detailed Description. These would have been used in the home for repairs as well as pieces sewn. Mrs Pratt owned the sewing basket and it's contents - she lived in Beenak Road, Wandin, Victoria.An open rectangular shaped cane woven sewing basket with three bands of green and tan raffia woven around the sides. It had a lid which is missing but there is one twisted wire loop where the lid would have been attached. This piece was made in Japan and bears an export mark associated with Arnart Imports (N with a stylised crown). Arnart was an importer and distributor, rather than a manufacturer.Porcelain figurine of a male doctor holding a newborn baby. The doctor has brown hair and a moustache and is in surgical attire, with a white gown and white surgical hat. The cuffs of his blue trousers, and his brown shoes, are visible below the gown, and a blue jacket is visible through the gaps in the back of the gown. The doctor is holding the baby upside down by its legs, with his left hand around its calves, and is holding his right hand as if to tap the baby on the bottom. The figurine is standing on a white base decorated with green and black stripes, and is supported by a rectangular block which sits behind the figure. There is a gold coloured, floral decoration at the front of the base. There is a stamp on the underside of the base of the figurine consisting of the initial 'N' below a stylised crown. The number '3446/2' is handwritten on a sticker on the underside of the base. A second, oval shaped sticker is printed with the text 'Made in Japan'.

Ernest Anderson (head gardener) and Harry (gardener) worked at Williamstown Botanic Gardens. The Anderson family lived in the curators lodge on the grounds in the 1930s. Horses were used at the gardens until the 1960s when the council bought a truck. Mr Biggs drove as Mr Anderson did not have a licence. He rode his bike to the Town Hall every Friday to put in the time sheets. The collection is the only known photos of the Gardens working horses and demonstrates Edwardian Municipal gardening techniques that continued into the 1960s. They are photographic evidence of the planting styles, species choices and structures. Details inscribed on the reverse of some of the photos confirm names of staff at this time. Whilst doing this the Sister demonstrated the transfer technique to the lady in the photograph who is probably his wife. The Sister is wearing the MDNS uniform of the day, a grey cotton dress and red cardigan, under her white gown. She has a red Maltese cross applied to the centre of her grey peaked hat.From its founding in 1885 the Hospital Trained nurses of the then named Melbourne District Nursing Society (MDNS), later named Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) gave high quality nursing care to patients in their own homes. They nursed patients referred by Hospitals and General Practitioners giving treatments, such as injections, wound care and doing many other procedures, as well as assisting them with 'general care' when required. The Sisters needed to transfer the patients when required and also taught family members safe transferring techniques to enable them to care for their loved ones. RDNS employed a Physiotherapist who taught staff the correct techniques, not only for safety of the patient, but to reduce physical strain on patient’s family members and the RDNS nursing staff . Where possible the Sisters worked towards independence, using equipment such as shower seats, rails and hand showers. The figurine is standing on a oval shaped base and there is a gold coloured, abstract, decorative embellishment at the front of the base. There is a stamp on the underside of the base of the figurine consisting of the initial 'A' below a stylised crown. The number '44/768' is printed on the base below this stamp. Its membership was restricted to white men born in Australia and its aim was to benefit them.Certificate issued by the Australian Natives Association. Portland Branch's ex President's certificate. Issue to Mr W.A. Mills. Occupied the position from 16 May 1938 to 15 May 1939. Signed by the President and the Secretary (illegible, faded). The certificate has the Australian emblem at the top under which is an orange banner with the words ' Australian Natives Association' across. Under this is a woman in classical style dress holding an Australian flag in her right hand and a document in her left which reads, 'Constitution of the Australian Commonwealth'. A circular frame states the owner of the certificate and why it was issued. On the other side of the circle is a man. He wears leather riding boots, cream trousers and a blue shirt. He is holding something in his left hand. Under is a central star in which is an image of Australia. Either side is a picture of the sea with an Aboriginal man standing at the shore by some boats. Sister Ellen Anderson is the Supervisor of the Royal District Nursing Service, (RDNS) Footscray Centre. She is wearing her RDNS uniform of a short sleeve white blouse under a royal blue V neck tunic style dress.
