George Frederick Boxall (1051 8th Battalion H Company), a miner from Bendigo, embarked from Melbourne on board Transport A24 Benalla on 19 October 1914. Yields information about the way the SEC marked the achievement of safety records by workers and yields information about the work of the SEC Ballarat tram depot.A flag or banner made for the SEC to enable an award to work sites that had achieved 100,000 man hours without an accident. Base materials for the flag is blue cloth with blue cotton seamed edges, the left hand side has been overlain by about 15mm to provide a part where a dowel or rope could be passed through. Has the 100,000 Man Hours area with a yellow paint overlay and the 100,000 hours in black paint. The Accident Free is in a darker yellow pain and the SEC Logo of the Electricity Supply Department is in the same yellow base with black lines. On the rear is the Evan Evans manufacturing logo with the Olympic rings giving address and that they were the official flag makers for the XVIth (16th) Olympic games (Melbourne 1956) and the VIIth (7th) British Empire and Commonwealth Games (Perth 1962). This indicates the flag was made early to mid 1960's. Recovered by the donor, with approval of the Depot Foreman, from the wreckage in the SEC Ballarat yard from the demolished Tram No. 20 that was involved in a collision on 16/9/1970. One of the support members, near the bell striker has been broken through and the area where it was secured to the roof of the tram at the same end has been bent. 1019.1 and 1019.2 - Black and white photograph of SEC Tram 14 involved with a collision with a Ford truck during 1939 on the corner of Drummond St. North and Webster St. Ford truck registration 277.745 . Both vehicles have windows smashed and other damage. Tram painted in 1930's colour scheme with a small "Pay as You Enter" sign adjacent to the open door. Known to be SEC photos originally. See SEC Photo collection item. Was reprinted in the Ballarat News during the early to mid 1980's. Other photos of this accident gave close up details of lining used in the tram paint scheme. This was used as the basis of lining done on No. 27. The tramcar body card shows it was repaired following an accident June 1939. (Note added 2-2-19). Photocopy made 4/1999 for display purposes.
