The book appears to be written in last 2011 or early 2012 when it was about to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Albury Legacy, which had been formed in 1932. It was compiled by Legatee Rob Patterson of the Albury Legacy Club. The Melbourne Legacy 1979 - 56th Annual Report with presidents report and photos of events through the year. The President was Legatee Bill Mehan. It mentions there were more than 900 members of Melbourne Legacy. The executive officer Ivan Layton had been inducted into Melbourne Legacy before he went on sick leave. Unfortunately he passed away leaving a contribution of almost 30 years service. The widows club rooms were renovated and reopened with 350 widows in attendance. A regular event for the widows was a Christmas concert at the Melbourne Town Hall. The performers were the RAAF Central Band. Held in December each year. These photos are the same event as black and white photos and a proof sheet 911202A and 011202B (01335). One photo show President Sullivan presenting flowers to Inez Bruce, Vera Lang and Joan Redmond. Usually the concert was the time the Widows Clubs presented Legacy with funds raised through their fundraising each year - in this case $14,000 - and the president acknowledges with flowers. The article mentions that over 2000 widows attended the 29th Annual Widows' Club Christmas Concert. The concert is a welcome highlight of the year, widows from Melbourne and country Victoria join together to sing carols and enjoy the music of the RAAF Central Band conducted by Squadron Leader Graham Lloyd. Special guest artist included Ivor Jones (a POW in Changi Prison). Also Sgt. Mike Hawkins who had performed 19 times for Legacy. A visit by the Governor of Victoria to an formal function in Legacy House. It is an award ceremony for Dame Beryl Beaurepaire who received a golden plaque for her services to Legacy and she was conferred as Guest of Honor. Including a speech being given by the Governor, The Hon. Richard E. McGarvie, AC QC. Irene Noll the President of the Widows Club is also seated at the table. The President David Millie presented the plaque. The event was on 3 October 1995 and was with a bunch of other photos with the label, "Misc guests of the club . . Governor - 95". Two photographs of Mrs Winifred Fotheringham who helped promote Legacy Week in 1990. She had reached 101 years of age. Mrs Fotheringham is also seen at the annual Commemoration for Students ceremony in April 1990 (in 00845) with two other widows which implies she might have been on the Widows' Club Committee, and also on a visit to the Shrine with a Legatee and another lady in 00579. It was with a group of photos from 1988 to 1990 in a folio with paper labels (see items 01042 to 01049). Colour photo of a group of Legacy widows in Beijing China. Melbourne Legacy would help arrange tours and day trips for the Widows clubs. This was a tour in 1993 that went to China. There appears to be about 50 ladies in the photo with a two tour guides. From the sign it appears it was taken on 23 June 1993. The tour was run by Interasia Tours and advertised in The Answer. It was an 8 day tour to Beijing and covered places such as Temple of Heaven, Tiananmin Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Ming Tombs and the Great Wall of China.
