Mt Beauty was constructed by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria to house employees of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. Mt Beauty township looking south east from Hollond's property c1948. Gives the rules of the 'The Ballarat Tramways and SEC Benefit Fund'Sixteen page with light brown light weight card covers, centre stapled book titled "The Objects, Rules and Regulations of 'The Ballarat Tramways and SEC Benefit Fund." Details the committee, that it was approved by the Department of Social Services, name, objects, constitution, trustees, executive, collectors, meeting of members, members qualifications, benefits (in pounds), claims, unfinancial members, payment of claims, the Secretary, alteration to constitution and Order of business. Set of four driver / conductor traffic numeral badges or personnel employee numbers and one brass MMTB button. .1 - Badge number, MMTB style, "1453", plated brass to give a gold finish with the numbers fixed to a bar top and bottom and two lugs on the rear to clip into a cap. Made by Stokes and Sons Melbourne - has been stamped onto the rear. .2 - ditto - engraved into a layered plastic backing - black plastic with a white underlay, used by tram crews to indicate their assigned personal employee number. Later MMTB prior to The Met type. See Reg Item 1368 for other examples. .3 - ditto - The Met - Three parts - holder made from gold coloured plastic with a metal Met (the flying one) logo fixed above the holder and fitted with a pin. Wedel is the oldest chocolate brand in Poland. It has been operating for over 160 years. Beginning with Karol Ernest Wedel, his son, Emil and followed by Jan Wedel the Wedel family waswell known for its social welfare policies. During WW11 Jan Wedel refused to collaborate with the the German government leading to persecution of his employees and his family. Although the company has been taken over several times by larger international groups, the Wedel name remains part of the product.A large tin container which held confectionery. The front of the tin has a black background , decorated with yellow,blue and red stars. In the centre is the Wedel logo, a signature on a yellow oval background.on front - E. The inscription in the book indicates that it once belonged to Edwin J Dale, who may have received it May 13th 1901, the date on the inscription. The album was made in Germany and has English, German, French and Spanish language on the fly page. It has 2000 pockets for holding stamps and is illustrated. The printer, Spottiswoode and Co., was established in 1738 by William Strahan, with premises in New Street Square, London. The growing firm advertised as Printers, Lithographers, Stationers, Electrotypers, Publishers, and Booksellers and by 1914 there were 1,000 employees.The stamp album is of Victorian vintage and shows that at the end of the 19th century people collected stamps. The State Electricity Commission of Victoria were the employers of the Kiewa Hydro Scheme. The work included building dams, power stations and the infrastructure for the work and their employees. Mt Beauty and Bogong village were the places where this scheme was built and where this photo shows part of its construction being Power Station 3. Originally there were 3 Hydro stations built from the 1930's onwards. The scheme finished being built in 1960 and is the biggest Hydro electricity scheme in Victoria. This photo has good Historic significance: The construction of No. 3 Power Station which was part of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme built by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria. Therefore is picture is very historically significant as it shows the power station at the time of its construction which is an important part of Victoria' development and history. Since Mt Beauty was established due to the Hydro scheme being built this photo has great interpretation capacity. This is a black and white photograph showing the power station and workmen's huts and storage huts, site manager's office and surrounding bush. Made by Cox, F J 1845-1882 (1891), optical & mathematical instrument maker, optician, camera manufacturer, London.Sliding box camera, about 1855. This type of camera was in use before bellows became common. The camera belonged to Hugh Strachan who passed it on to an employee, Charlie Lugg. The Strachan family is distinguished in the Geelong wool industry. James Ford Strachan, born in Scotland, established a very successful wool broking business and his sons carried on his work.Wooden case with brass handle lined with green felt containing one sliding box camera, with a brass fitting for a lense, a removable glass focussing screen, which conseals the removable lense inside the camera. Also two small wooden frames for developping the photographs. Also a linen cape and a leather pouch containing metal filters with gradients. Booklet about the life of Charles Lugg who owned the camera before it was passed to his nephew who then donated it to the NWM. A chart for taking measurements of the Legacy boys. This was a copy of the form that was kept as an example. The data was of measurements of junior legatee W. Gallagher. The form was signed J. Teirney, which was Jim Teirney who was the first paid employee of Melbourne Legacy, he was the fitness instructor for many years. The date was 1927 so very early in the history of Legacy working with children of deceased servicemen. Shows Legacy was active in record keeping with proper medical supervision for physical activities of the children, in 1927.The method of record keeping was all done by hand, time consuming and the storage of records took up a lot of space.Diagram of a measurement chart with sketch of a male body. Certificate of Appreciation from the Mutual Benefit Society of the Employees of MTOCo to Mr T Edwin Wildie for services rendered to the Society. Dated Feb. 1914. Was signed by the President, Vice President, and secretary but these have faded. Comprises a group photograph of 28 men and at the bottom a portrait photo of Mr Wildie. Includes images of a cable tram set at Brunswick Depot, a horse-drawn Omnibus, the interior of an engine house and the construction of a cable tramway junction. Mt Beauty residents celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Primary School.The school was established at the request of the SEC in March 1947 to meet the needs of the employees' children. The school opened in 1948 with ever increasing numbers. The new school was built in 1950 comprising of 4 classrooms, a craft room a library and a teacher's room. In 1951 4 large classrooms were added.The Higher Elementary School was proclaimed in May 1953. The school continued to grow.
