Also demonstrates the administration of a locally based welfare fund.Carbon copy of a hand written list dated 23-4-1953 of 59 people on the front and two on the rear showing payment to the Ballarat Tramway "Welfare Club Payment". Payment appears to total 12 pounds 4 shillings. See also Reg item 6312 for a June 1952 list. Handwritten on ruled paper which has been folded into four. No. 33 has an Eureka Roofing Tile Advert. .2 - 28? passing two track workers cleaning the west end points with a bogie car and three single truckers in the loop. Handwritten note within Reg. Item 2488, page 99, written by H.P. James, from memory, of the names of the Superintendents of Tramways from 1905 to 1934, Tram Depot Superintendents until the SEC took over in 1934 and the arrangements as well. At the lower section of the notes are dates on the various positions held by H.P. James himself from 1905 to 1934. Includes the names of S.H. Smith, J. Jinks, G. Lowe, R. Nankervis, H. W. Collett, G. V. Lowe, H.P. James, A.V. Mawby, R. Wilton, C.H. Cosgrove, H. Foy, C.Hodgson, T. Thomas and the years that were in that position. Yields information about a social welfare or friendly society part of the Ballarat Tramways - group who looked after their fellow workers through contributions. Gives the rules of the 'The Ballarat Tramways and SEC Benefit Fund'Sixteen page with light brown light weight card covers, centre stapled book titled "The Objects, Rules and Regulations of 'The Ballarat Tramways and SEC Benefit Fund." Details the committee, that it was approved by the Department of Social Services, name, objects, constitution, trustees, executive, collectors, meeting of members, members qualifications, benefits (in pounds), claims, unfinancial members, payment of claims, the Secretary, alteration to constitution and Order of business. Note the membership allowed for any SEC employee in the district. President J. Tucker Secretary and Treasurer - W. Cross Vice President L.Hoare and H. Gilbert Committee - R. Parrot, P.Egan, V.McCartin, B. Browne, S. Stevenson, T. Tonkin, J.Megee. Later version of Reg Item 3658, benefits similar, but contribution 1/6 - instead of 1/- per week. Features Miss Winifred Gurr of the Queenscliff office, as the Good Fairy, Electricity at the Geelong Centenary Celebrations. Has the SEC logo or motif on the top of the cover. 2971.2 - Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 3, No. 3, Nov. 1938 titled "The Development of Ballarat's Electricity Supply". One A3 sheet and one A4 sheet. The article details the SEC's part in the celebration of Geelong's Centenary Celebrations in October 1938. Opened by Mayor, Alderman C. N. Brown. Details the lighting needs for the celebrations, 400kW, the large motor traffic who came to see them, damage due to Gales, public buildings illuminated and the procession. Includes details of the decorated trams - 1500 paper floors and 400 lamps. Has photos of Moorabool St, a decorated Pengelly tram and Power Station. On page 4 is a letter from an American visitor, Dorothy Bradner congratulating the tramways. Record revised 3/4/2019 to add digital images with those from Andrew Cook CD. Images added of pages 22 and 37 Page 22 - image 12 - titled "The Provincial Big Three" - photos of the Managers of the Ballarat, Geelong and Bendigo Regions - Mr. T. A. Farr, Mr. H.N. Form used to record a summary of the working hours of crews, showing the total hours and the hours worked when one man operation. Gives a list of names at the time when the form prepared. Also used by Ray Hall as a sheet of paper to write out the details of No. 9 run for Sundays as a reference document.Duplicated typed form, foolscap sheet, titled "Summary of daily time sheets - Traffic Department", giving name, total time, one man rate time, and spread of hours.
