Published by the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop Authority and Ministry of Transport, late 1980. The station was opened in Jan. 1981 see reference. Sixteen page book, A4 portrait format, saddle stapled, titled "Light Rail Transit System - Inner Area North-South Link", published by the Metropolitan Transit Authority detailing the conversion of the former heavy electric suburban railway lines to St Kilda and Port Melbourne to electric trams or Light Rail. Has foreword by Tom Roper, Minister for Transport, Describes the proposed system, vehicles, development of articulated vehicles (2001, 2002), interchange with rail services, travel times and a map showing the proposed route, including a possible extension along Mitford St. and Broadway to Glenhuntly Road. Has a number of artists impressions of the vehicles at Station Pier and South Melbourne station. Includes colour photographs of the vehicles, conductors and photos of other light rail systems in Hanover and Amsterdam. Report - 41 pages, photocopied, stapled in top left hand corner - titled "East Burwood Tramway Extension - beyond Middleborough Road - Feasibility Study - September 1982". No details as who made the report, though attached to the front cover by a paper clip is a Metropolitan Transit Authority with compliments sheet, stamped "Information Officer", office address of 616 Little Collins St. Gives details of proposals considered, population and land use, existing services, patronage, operating costs, revenue and provides an assessment. Looks at costs for an extension only to Blackburn Road, Springvale Road and to Vermont South. Report showed the cost benefit ratio for Blackburn Road was 1, and less for the other possibilities. Provides the basis for segregating road traffic from tram lines at intersections and along roadways and road markings applied.Yields information about the introduction of Fairways into Melbourne tramway streets during 1983, the first legal segregation of trams from road traffic.Set of two pamphlets regarding Tram Fairways. .1 - Three-section vertical fold-out pamphlet titled "How to drive the Fairway" printed on gloss paper showing the fairway system and how its works with the various signs in a cartoon manner. Notes the Fairway system was set up in 1983 and the basis of it. The reason this was presented to the Shire of Ballarat is unknown.Rectangular Plaque with shaped bottom of brown wood,on which is a shield with the crown on top and on a white enamelled background divided into four by gold lines, are symbols of a tree, Australian flag, an Anchor and firemans helmet. A cast iron seal press, . This was used by Heywood Sewerage Authority to emboss agreements and official documents. Die is still attached to the press. It reads: Heywood Sewerage Authority 1970 Small metal machine painted black . Two dies are attached with the seal of Heywood Sewerage Authority. Paper is placed between the dies, the handle depressed and the seal embossed on the paper under pressure as a blind (inkless) embossing. The seal consists of two circles with the wording "Heywood Sewerage Authority". Handwritten note from Chris Jacobson on Metropolitan Transit Authority of Victoria memo paper forwarding a copy to Warren Doubleday of the BTPS in Feb. 1988, with date received stamp at depot of 19/2/1988. 2. Photocopy of a memo on Metropolitan Transit letterhead from K. C. Painter dated 20/7/1987 to the Civil Engineering Design drafting staff forwarding a copy of the 1928 lectures to the then current staff. 3. Photocopy of a circular from J.P. Strickland, Chief Engineer to track inspectors, sub overseers, overseers and senior gangers advising that a series of weekly lectures on track work would be held at Hawthorn Depot commencing 23/1/1928. 4.
