These are WW1 Australian soldiers, They have leather bandoliers, leather leggings and spurs. Most have slouch hats. Therefore they are probably drivers. The big officer in the middle has red tabs so it is assumed he would be Colonel or above. Seated on the ground, right side is a veteran. He has a colour patch with the letter "A" . There is a Lance Corporal with a colour patch. I would place this as c1916-1918.This is a small group portrait set into a cardboard frame. The photo is black and white. There are 3 ranks of soldiers in front of a timber weatherboard building.On the back written in texta is Mrs O. Pell.photograph, ww1

When I lobbed back I found them all pasted in these albums by my young brother Billy. He was only a kid then! Nowadays he is serving up North. Went away with the original 9th Battn. Was in the Blitz on England and served in Libya, Tobruk, Greece, Crete and Palestine and was twice knocked. It's not long since the last upheaval 1914-18 and I wonder if these boys think as we did. Both the Officers and Sergeants Messes of the Regiment have now been closed.Wooden trophy on base with vertical backing piece mounting small shields -1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1990 all Sergeants Mess. Other 5 are blank. On base section is mounted a decorative depiction of cricket batsman in full swing. Something was affixed to the top but there is now only a screw hole showing where it was.
