The first newsletter of the Society was issued May 1978 and has been published continuously ever since on a bi-monthly basis. With the cessation of the Shire of Eltham in late 1994, the Society's name was revised to Eltham District Historical Society and this name first appeared with issue No. 103, July 1995. Local land boards were community based "tribunals" consisting of a chairman appointed by the the state government and two(?) local members who were there or their knowledge of local land management practices. These boards were establishe in the mid-late 19th century and generally dealt with disputes about fencing, water rights, general land enquiries and the opening or closing of local roads.This document is a record of local land issues in the late 19th century. This item was in a cabin trunk that belonged to Henry Frencham which also included his Petition to Parliament and the findings from the Parliamentary enquiry into his and other claims to be the first to find gold at Bendigo. A stereoscope is a device for viewing a stereoscopic pair of separate images, depicting left-eye and right-eye views of the same scene, as a single three-dimensional image.A dark brown wooden half centimetre thick base with curved edges varying in width from eight centimetres, twelve centimetre, seven centimetres and ten centimetres. A half centimetre by half centimetre piece of wood with a grove in it is glued to one end. On the other end an oval shaped half centimetre thick, twelve centimetres long and five centimetres wide, has two three centimetre diametre glass lenses in it and is attached by a small single hinge so it can be folded against the other piece for storage or raised to right angles to look through the lenses at an image in the groove at the end of the base piece.steroscope, henry frencham

Moorabbin station was originally called South Brighton station and the name can be seen painted on the back of the bench seat on the platform. There are six men standing on the platform.Moorabbin station was opened on 19 December 1881 as South Brighton station. On 1 May 1907 it was renamed Moorabbin station and has maintained that name every since.
