He began his millinery career in 1920, and by the late 1930s had a salon and workshop at 163 Collins St. He later moved the business to Toorak Road, South Yarra. Moorabbin station sits on the Frankston line which first opened in 1882 when the line was extended from Mordialloc. Moorabbin station opened in 1881 and was originally called South Brighton station. It was renamed Moorabbin station in 1907. In 1958 the station was relocated below street level which coincided with other construction works on Nepean Highway and South Road. Market gardening was an integral part of the development of the area now known as Kingston. In this image there are two men standing beside a truck loaded with vegetables. Painted on the truck are the words South Rd, A & H Marriott, indicating these men are from the Marriott family. The truck appears to be a Republic Commercial Car by Republic Motor Truck Co, Michigan, c. 1916.The Marriott family arrived in Port Phillip in 1857.
