Building has a chimney at each end and corrugated iron roof, sited flush of south fence of Recreation Reserve. 1. Lords Raceway trotting track was formally opened in November 1954 by Mr Galvin the Trotting Club's Chief Secretary. 2. Clothes/cloth rationing was in place from June 1942 till June 1948. Adults were allowed 112 clothing coupons per year. A ladies dress used 12 coupons, a pair of socks 4 coupons, and a man's suit used 38 coupons. Other items affected by rationing were butter, tea, sugar, eggs, tobacco, petrol and Meat. Butter and tea were rationed until 1950. 3. Marong Catholic Church had it's foundation stone laid in 1876 and the first services were held in1877. The church is now closed.1. 4 Newspaper items, one headed 'Bendigo South' To Celebrate 150 years of Methodism in Golden Square held at Golden Square Uniting Church at 11am on Saturday June 23; re-enactment by Jim Evans of the first sermon by Jimmy Jeffrey, the Bendigo Chorale , the Bendigo Theatre Company, Bendigo Senior Secondary College Ensemble. Followed by an afternoon tea in the hall. The Reverend Peter Hoare will lead the worship service at Anne Caudle Centre at 2pm tomorrow assisted by members of the Kangaroo Flat congregation; another headed 'Uniting' a special dedication and musical afternoon will be held at Golden Square Church on Sunday October 12 at 2.30pm when further brick pavers inscribed with past worshippers names will be added to the Memorial Entry. Since the creation of this memorial at last years 150th anniversary several requests have been received for further pavers to be. Various copies of article/book/document re Cornish church history/life in Bendigo; a; programme of celebratory activities for Jubilee of Methodist Church and Sunday School, McKenzie Street - 1916 (handwritten note: ''Former Bible Christian'') - various activities for the period Oct 1st to October 9th; shows poor photographic copy of church building and adjacent Sunday School; stapled is letter from Pastor (A E Wellard) and Officers of the church re the celebrations addressed to ''Dear Friend'' with reference to the inauguration of a Thanksgiving Fund.(original of this letter has been cut and repaired with tape (showing up on copy). B. article titled ''60 Years Ago'' - two pages from unknown source with reference to the White Hills Bible Christian Church and the establishment of the church following that in California Gully (Upper Road Methodist Church) - numerous names of choir, early pioneers, ministers of the church, superintendents; c. two pages of information about the ''Back to Upper Road - Diamond Jubilee church, May 1924. Book - BUSH COLLECTION : LEDGER BOOK 1888 TO 1920
a. Book with a mottled blue-grey cover with brown leather spine and extends 5.5 cm to front and back. Corner edges also had the leather, two are missing and the other two are dilapidated. A red stuck on tape near the top of the spine had Ledger printed with some gold edging, most of which is worn off. Inside the front and back covers is a red, blue and white marble pattern. Front and back covers have been reinforced with white tape. 542 page Ledger Book for a general produce merchant. Probably Albert Bush. Alphabetical index at front. Entries in black ink on all pages and date from 1888 to 1920. Loose 4 page foolscap inside front cover listing Rolling Stock and Value. b. A pocket in the back of the book contains 6 pieces of paper relating to business and finance. Items include Discounts and Commission from 1888 to 1899, a note on insurance, a note dated June 2/90 headed Mr A Bush Sandhurst Dr to S A Bush & Co listing monthly amounts of money from Jan 1890 and 1889. Some amounts are with the name G P Reddie.Another one is a Building A/C dated 1889. Another is a balance sheet written on a page with another one written on the back and dated 1893. One written on paper headed Bush's Stores, Main Street, Bairnsdale and printed S.A.Bush & Co. It looks like a list of repayments listed in 8 bills. The other side of the page refers to Bill of Sales for Yeates & Baker and Bill of Sales held by the Bank of New South Wales. There is also a copy of two letters addressed to A Bush, one dated Oct 17.06 from H Hopkins referring to the late Mr Baker's property in Sale.
