James Hossack and his wife, Penuel, arrived from Scotland to Geelong on Christmas Day 1852. James and Penuel had one daughter, Penuel who married Robert Pullar Cameron at Orbost. They had two sons, James(1858) and George(1860). James Hossack farmed "Brooklands" which he bought from John Cameron The Hossack family was a prominent Orbost family with strong ties to the Presbyterian Church in Orbost. The late Robert Ulmann (1927-1999) was a well-known local Warrnambool artist, creating murals, sculptures and art works. The sculpture 'Lady in the Wind' was presented to Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village by Dr Ivor (Ivor Philip Quentin Scott 16-08/1928 - 1/11/2016) and his wife Deirdre Scott (dec.). This sculpture is significant for being a creation of Robert Ulmann, well known local Warrnambool artist. The sculpture titled "Lady in the Wind" by Robert Ulmann. Subject is a robed woman moving forward, long hair streaming behind her, clutching fabric of skirt in each hand. Created in 1975. Made of Mount Gambier stone. Plaque describing the sculpture is on a nearby wall. 'Harmony Vale' was the home built c1860 by early settler Jabez Richardson and his wife Sarah Ann. Jabez Richardson arrived in 1855 with the Child and Jeeves families. The building and barn stood until 1933. Joseph Shepherd (1833-1921) migrated to Victoria with his wife Mary Tame in early 1851. They lived first at Geelong but were in Linton by 1862. Joseph Shepherd ran a grocery and general store, became a JP, and served on the Shire of Grenville Council. He was Shire President on three occasions.
