Clarendon PLC held its first inter-house swimming sports on 23 February 1966. "Each house held its trials before school during the previous week. the programme included diving, free-style, back-stroke, brest-stroke and relay events for seven age groups. The final points in 1966 were Sloss 98, Kennedy 52, Walker 46, Cairns 27. Outstanding individual efforst were recorded for Gaye McLennan, Sally Sloss and Bronwyn Cottman. Following the sports themselves came the 'House Swim' where everyone had the chance to gain a point for her house by swimming one length in a specified time. The House Swim Cup was won by Cairns House. These sports were really held as a trial but because of their success they will be continued as a regular school function". Wife of the Rev T D Cairns, Minister of St Andrews Kirk, Mrs Mary Cairns served on the Council of Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies College 1919 - 1949. Her generous guarantee of loans from the Ballarat Banking Company, together with other donations, enabled the Presbytery of Ballarat to purchase Clarendon Ladies College from Mr Kennedy in 1919 for 1500 pounds. Mrs Cairns was an inaugural member of the new Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies College Council, established 1919 and remained on the Council for 30 years. This chair was a personal gift to Mrs Cairns by the PWMU to honour of her long and devoted service to that organisation. Mrs Cairns donated the chair back to St Andrews Kirk where it remained in use until the sale of the property in 2019. Congregation member, Max Harris, kindly arranged the donation of the chair to the school because of Mrs Cairn's long association with Clarendon PLC. Arthur Henry Dear was an employee of the City of Kew, acting as Hall Keeper of the Kew Recreation Hall in Wellington Street, and later the new Kew City Hall in Cotham Road. The Arthur Dear Collection contains memorabilia - tickets, programmes, invitations - as well as his identification badge. Items in the collection dates from the 1940s to the 1960s. The Kew Recreation Hall (Wellington Street) and later the Kew City Hall (Cotham Road) were major locations in suburban Melbourne in the postwar period for civic and private events including theatre productions and exhibitions. The Arthur Dear Collection (in conjunction with the scrapbooks compiled by Marion Tilley) provide a comprehensive snapshot of performing arts in Kew during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. The collection includes valuable data about performances, performers, directors etc., during this period. Programme for a performance of N.C. Hunter's Grouse in June by The Clarendon Players. The performance in the Kew Recreation Hall was held on 18 December 1958. The programme includes a cast list and a synopsis.
