Knife used to puncture and retrieve wool samples from within bales. Knife was used by Maurice Dalton, who was foreman of the show floor at Dennys Lascelles (bow truss building) until his retirement after 34 years with the company (1941-1977).Wood handle with metal protruding from both the top and bottom of handle. Bottom of handle may be a 'rooster’s tale' as is common in a Farrier's knife (It is possible this knife was originally a Farrier's knife before being repurposed). Top of the knife is approximately half the size of the handle with a sharped edge which has dulled over time.

Lake Bolac Post Office Glenelg Highway. Initially the Post Office was established at the Store in 1868. This official weatherboard building was opened in 1887 incorporating a telegraph office, money order office and post office savings bank. The Post Office business was relocated in 1944 and the building was used as a private residence with the front room leased to Dennys Lascelles. Used in Denny’s Lascelles Bow Truss building by Maurice Dalton who was the foreman of the building for 34 years. Files are ‘Cup Brand’ – ‘Best refined steel files’ and were manufactured by the no longer trading Moss & Gamble Brothers LTD at the Franklin works in Sheffield, England.12 steel files of varying length, thickness and shape. The longest and thickets are in a flat half circle with some files being fully flat, others complete cylinders, one is a complete square and others are in the shape of a triangle. The Denny Lascelles Wool Warehouse was the first building in Victorian planned to facilitate storage, inspection and marketing of wool in one operation, and upon completion was the second largest store in the colony. CJ Denny's was largely responsible for establishment and development of the wool marketing industry in Geelong and is a figure of significance in the history of settlement in Geelong. The wool store, a basalt structure with cement rendered ornamentation, was erected for CJ Denny's and Co, in 1872 to the design of Jacob Pitman, Architect.Wood cut engraving of the Mesrs. C. J. Pictorial guide to the artwork Our Eltham, a collection of 31 panels celebrating life in the Shire that were collaboratively created by artist Nerina Lascelles and ceramicist, Linda Detoma and commissioned by the Eltham Cemetery Trust. Our Eltham Artistic Recollections is a collection of panels that was commissioned by the Eltham Cemetery Trust as part of its vision to offer the community a fresh and unique relationship to the Cemetery. 31 panels were produced depicting historical images of Eltham and the nearby area with images of indigenous flowers and plants. A majority of the images were provided to the collaborating artists in digital form by Yarra Plenty Regional Library in partnership with Eltham District Historical Society who holds the significant Shire of Eltham Pioneers Photograph collection in partnership. EDHS and YPRL staff (Local and Family History Librarian) provided advice on which images to use and also provided assistance with the provision of information and editing services for this booklet, which is also available electronically. The collection of panels was collaboratively created by artist Nerica Lascelles and ceramicist Linda Detoma. The project was designed and constructed by Leigh Wykes with Australian stone and Ironwork by Neil Carter.
