A foundation day speech in 2024 by Shrine Trustee and Past President, Legatee Graeme Plumridge. In a very well research piece he focussed on Legacy's close connection with the Shrine of Remembrance. Legatees were instrumental in saving the Shrine project from being discarded in the 1920s. Work on paper - Photograph, Mont Albert Central School Senior Team, December 1927, 1927
Mont Albert was one of a number of local government schools which provided both primary and some secondary education. The term Central School was quite common in Melbourne from at least the 1920's and was used to refer to a school that went up to year 8 or form 2. The reference to the C.S.A. Sports probably refers to the Central Schools Association, or perhaps a shortening of C.S.S.A. (Central Schools Sports Association). A later over-arching association was known as the V.P.S.S.A. (Victorian Primary School Sports Association - now School Sport Victoria.) Mont Albert was frequently mentioned in articles about or results of sporting tournaments, particularly in the Box Hill Reporter.Black and white head and shoulders photo of 10 girls in a uniform of white blouses and a dark tunic. Article - Speech, Foundation Day Address 2002, 2002
A foundation day speech in 2002 by Past President, Legatee George Woodward. Instead of looking at the history of Legacy from a timeline perspective he chose to look at old Bulletin articles and comment on aspects of what he read. He mentions they provided a sense of belonging, of fun, sadness, enthusiasm, and activity. It gave him a different view of the founding legatees, other than as ageing old men, they were young men full of energy and enthusiasm. There were notices of marriages and children, leave taken for honeymoons etc. 'I received a terrific sense of family in reading through these early Bulletins'.A speech given at a Legacy function to commemorate the day on which Legacy was founded that has information about the early years of Legacy.White A4 paper x 5 pages with black print of 2002 speech by George Woodwardfoundation day, george woodward -
