Set of A4 photocopies of 15 years of annual reports of The Electric Supply Company of Victoria Limited from 1920 to 1934. Most of the reports comprise three sheets - Directors Report, left hand side of the Balance Sheet, Trading Account and Profit and Loss Account on the right hand side. Some reports have a statutory declaration by the Manager and Secretary that the reports submitted are a true copy of the report. Items .1 to .12 detail the number of lamps connected, passengers carried and trading account for the last three years. This practice stopped when ESCo sold the company to the SEC but continued to manage it for a further four years. The Directors report from 9/1900 note the forthcoming sale of the company to the British Insulated Wire Company Limited and the problems of finalising the sale. A digital copy of a black and white photograph taken at the entrance to "The Hermitage" at Narbethong in Victoria.A digital copy of a black and white photograph taken at the entrance to "The Hermitage" at Narbethong in Victoria. "The Hermitage" was built by photographer John William Lindt as a home and guesthouse in 1894. John Lindt had previously photographed the mountain scenery of the Black Spur and purchased 71 acres and subseqently built his home and guesthouse from where he continued his career. "The Hermitage had a garden designed by John Lindt's friend, Ferdinand von Mueller, who was at one stage the Director of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens. The garden featured New Guinea tree houses from which John Lindt made frequent panoramas of his property and the surrounding forest of towering mountain ash. Aged 81 Lindt died of heart failure during disastrous bushfires on 19 February 1926 at the Hermitage. He was survived by his wife Catherine who continued to run ‘The Hermitage’ guest house before she retired to the city. This Scrapbook contains, among other things, newspapers clippings and annual reports relating to the Adult Deaf Missions of Victoria and South Australia as well as clippings from various Deaf magazines printed in Great Britian. The compiler of the scrapbook is unknown, however it is possibly the work of E. B. Solomon a deaf man associated with the South Australian Adult Deaf and Dumb Mission as Caretaker (1896) and Collector (1897-1919?). If it is the work of Solomon it is not known how it came to be in the Vicdeaf Collection and research is continuing.This Scrapbook is a significant collection of material relating to the Deaf Missions of Victoria and South Australia with the period cover being from about 1895 to 1905. His previous books include Aboriginal Melbourne and For God's sake send the trackers. Gary Presland is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, an Honorary Fellow at The University of Melbourne and an Honorary Associate of Museum Victoria, where he was the 2001 Thomas Ramsay Science and Humanities Fellow. Giovanni Brusaschi was born in 1827 in Lombardy, Italy. He arrived in Victoria seeking gold in the 1850s. He was a pioneer viticulturist and a leading citizen of the Clunes district. Marrying Alice Mary O'Sullivan who was born in County Kerry, Ireland, she arrived in Australia in 1863. Settling at Dunach, about 10 km from Clunes, they had a vineyard, made wine, and kept pigs, sheep and cows.
