A letter from Mrs M Ring to the Caulfield Historical Society, dated 14/03/1986, conveying gratitude for the information provided about the house Crotonhurst located at the corner of Hawthorn Road and Glen Eira Road, Caulfield North, and requesting information about the Langdon and Webb families and the property Lirrewa. Enclosed with the letter is a copy of a two page report on the Life of George Frederick Webb. The file also includes a seven page report conducted by Irene Victoria Anderson in 1982 on the history of the Langdon and Webb families and the house Crotonhurst. The letter is addressed to a volunteer (no name) advising them that they need to complete a ‘Client Information Sheet’ each time they visit a particular client who they have ongoing dealings with. Joan Kirner served as a member of the state parliament from 1982-1994. Deputy Premier of Victoria, Minister of Education and subsequently Premier of Victoria (1990-92). Photo taken in June 1989. Norm Borchers passed away in 2008. Borchers was a Club President of the Sebastopol Lions Club (1975-76). He worked for the railways as an engineering employee and was long-term trade unionist (Amalgamated Engineering Union and the Australian Railways Union) and ALP member; he lived and worked in the Ballarat area. Norm was active in workplace disputes during the ALP split in 1955. A detailed model of the Royal Australian Navy submarine HMAS AE2 mounted on a flat wooden base. This model is of her rigged for surface running with radio mast raised. Submarines AE1 and AE2 were the first submarines to join the new RAN fleet in 1914. Constructed in England by Vickers Ltd., the AE2 was launched in June 1913, commissioned at Portsmouth on 28 February 1914 and arrived in Sydney on 24 May, 83 days after leaving Portsmouth. A total of sixty days had been spent at sea and some 13,000 miles covered; a record for submarines at that time. Her first voyage was under the command of Lieutenant Commander Stoker, RN. Her crew of 35 comprised officers and ratings from both the RN and RAN. The AE2 was lost in action in the Sea of Marmora, Turkey on the 30th April, 1915, whilst serving in the Dardanelles and Gallipoli campaign.
