In 1993, the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria (AFV) celebrated its 25th anniversary. Formerly known as the Rheumatic and Arthritis Association of Victoria (RAAV), the organisation was founded in 1968 by Dr Leslie Koadlow (1920-2006) with the assistance and support of his secretary, Alice Petty (-1995), and one of his patients, Mollie Riches (1896-1979). The anniversary celebrations were held at the historic Como House and Garden. Built in 1847 by the Armytage family, Como House is located on the corner of Williams Rd and Lechlade Ave, South Yarra, on Wurundjery Woiwurrung Country. In this photo, Chairman of the Fundraising Committee at the Foundation, Alan Sime, presents a framed certificate of appreciation to Judith Reddish. The axe Terry is holding is over 200 years old and is believed to have been used by ship builders in their trade. Terry makes his own axe handles from district timber." They eventually settled in Orbost where Erasmo worked as a sleeper cutter withn his wife working alongside him. The Gioves lived with their four children, Tina, Rocco, Benodino and Graziela, in Forest Road, Orbost,These photographs are associated with the timber and sleeper-cutting industry in the Orbost Region. Timber sleepers were superceded by concrete sleepers in c. 1970s. Orbost has historically been based on the timber industry, but that industry has declined considerably over the last 20 years..The number of locals involved in the timber industry has declined and many of the mills have closed. The Freedom of Entry to the City was an honour conferred by the Bendigo City Council to the Army Survey Regiment in 1970. 1977 was the second time the unit exercised its freedom of marching into the city with swords drawn, bayonets fixed and drums beating. The honour is usually bestowed upon local regiments, in recognition of their dedicated service, and it is common for military units to periodically exercise their freedom by arranging a parade through the city. Led by the Regiment’s CO – LTCOL Bob Skitch, the unit marched down View St in the CBD, along Pall Mall and up Gaol Rd to the Queen Elizabeth II Oval. The ceremonial parade followed with a march past the guests of honour, the Mayor of Bendigo and military dignitaries. The parade concluded after formal inspections of the troops. The Regiment also exercised its Freedom of Entry with anniversary parades in 1980, 1985, 1990, 1992 and 1996.This photograph of the Army Survey Regiment was taken on the occasion of the Freedom of Entry to the City of Bendigo March in 1977. The rehearsal was for the Freedom of Entry parade held 1-2 weeks later in 1980. The exact date for the Freedom of Entry parade is not known. This is a set of 16 photographs of a visit to the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna, Bendigo by the Commander 3rd Military District BRIG P. Davies AM, ADC on the 23rd and 24th of October 1989. In this set BRIG P. Davies AM, ADC was taken on a tour through the orthophoto production area. In photos .1P to .3P and .6P BRIG P. Davies AM, ADC presented a productivity award to CO LTCOL John Winzar in Fortuna’s Ballroom. LTCOL Winzar was the CO of the Army Survey Regiment from 1987 to 1989. The WILD OR1 orthophoto projector and workstation featuring in photos .7P to.10P and .12P to .14P was introduced in the mid-1980s. It was the second-generation equipment used to orthorectify colour and monochrome film aerial photography, replacing the system introduced in 1973. This set of 18 photographs were taken at a Corps Day Parade held at the Army Survey Regiment, Bendigo in July 1987. The Parade Commander was CO LTCOL Don Swiney MBE, and the Reviewing Officer was the Colonel Commandant (honorary appointment) of the Survey Corps - COL Clem Sargent (Retd). The Corps Day Parade was held to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the formation of the Royal Australian Survey Corps. These photos comprise inspections of the Regiment’s four squadrons, presentations of the Defence Force Service Medal in recognition of 15 years of efficient remunerated service to SSGT Phil Meagher and SGT Wayne Rothwell; and formal group photos of each of the four Squadrons, Officers, and Warrant Officers/Sergeants. Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. It was 2014 that it became Federation University. VIOSH Australia students are safety managers, senior advisors and experienced OHS professionals. They come from all over Australia and industry. Students are taught active research and enquiry; rather than textbook learning and a one-size fits all approach. VIOSH accepts people into the Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management who have no undergraduate degree - on the basis of extensive work experience and knowledge.
