On 14 September 2017, the Mission was invited to the Government House to meet Linda Dessau. On the occasion, the Board Committee presented the Governor with one of the framed Harbour Hilghts Guild badges (2 of 20). As the first female Governor of Victoria, she was a Patron of the Mission. On the 5th of December 1997, the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria recognised several of its volunteer members with Long Service and Oustanding Service Awards. The annual volunteers' celebration, which coincided with International Volunteers' Day, was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Lou Richards (1923-2017), former player and captain of the Collingwood football team, was the special guest MC. In this photo, Lou Richards is captured in a candid shot whilst seated at a table. Around 1987 to 1988, the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria (AFV) conducted an Exercise and Arthritis Training Course designed specifically to train volunteer members as Fitness Leaders.
