Tram 21 was built by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide in 1909. Originally built for the Municipal Tramways Trust of Adelaide. Came to Ballarat in 1937. At the time of the photograph it was the only tram running that had five saloon windows. When the trams stopped running in 1971, it went to the Australian Electric Transport Museum, Adelaide, South Australia. Tram 17 was built in 1915 by Meadowbank Manufacturing Sydney for Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust. It came to Ballarat in 1931 as part of the fleet of the State Electricity Commission. Tram 26 was built by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide in 1916. Originally built for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. Came to Ballarat in 1930. The photograph show the tram turning from Macarthur Street into Wendouree Parade , known as View Point. When the trams stopped operating it became part of the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society (Ballarat Tramway Museum from 1995) fleet of trams. Tram 37 was built by Duncan and Fraser , Adelaide, in 1916 for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. It came to Ballarat in 1960 and was in service until the trams in Ballarat stopped in 1971. It was a Bogie drop end and centre open combination tram. In 1971 it went to South Pacific Electric Railway/Sydney Tramway Museum. This tram was built by Meadowbank Manufacturing Company of Sydney in 1915. First used by Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust, then went to Geelong. It came to Ballarat in 1936. When the trams stopped running in Ballarat it went to Dalyesford and District Historical Society. In 1977 it was acquired by the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society (Ballarat Tramway Museum from 1995). Tram 17 was built in 1915 by Meadowbank Manufacturing Co. Sydney for Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust. It came to Ballarat in 1931. When Ballarat trams stopped running in 1971 it went to the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria. The photograph shows the tram travelling along Wendouree Parade, heading towards the Gardens. It is near near St Aidan"s Drive. In the background is the church on the corner of Forest Street, near the Ballarat Grammar School boat shed and a view across the lake. Tram 33 was built by Duncan and Fraser in 1917 for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. It was on-sold to the Footscray Tramways Trust. Due to the First World War shortages of electrical equipment, the tram could not be completed. Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board took over the Trust and completed the tram. It was purchased by the SEC in 1935 and became part of the Ballarat fleet. In 1971 the tram was acquired by the Hamilton Pastoral Museum and there until Ballarat Tramways Museum acquired it in 1977. The Eltham Library was located at the southern end of the newly constructed southern wing of the Shire Offices at 895 Main Road. The first dedicated library in the shire was the Children's Library built by the Eltham War Memorial Trust (now the Eltham War Memorial Hall). Funds were raised by volunteers to purchase books, the land and construct the building. This library initially opened in the Eltham Public Hall on the corner of Main Road and Arthur Street around 1948. The Children’s Library building was opened in 1961 but the transfer to the Eltham Council of the War Memorial Trust land and buildings in 1965 saw the closure of the children's library, which held over 2,000 books that were then transferred to all the schools in the shire which had participated in the monthly book exchange of boxes of books by use of the railways, bus companies and private cars. In late 1966 the children’s library service was integrated into the Heideberg Regional Library Service and the building was officially renamed the Eltham War Memorial Hall. The Brinkkotter house in Dudley Street became the first of the general library services in Eltham with shelving from the old Heidelberg City Library, staff borrowed form the Heidelberg Library and some use of the 1941 Shire Office in Main Road. By 1971 the 1964 Shire Office had the southern extension added and the Library was located on the lower level with Engineering and Planning on the level above. By 1986 this library was experiencing overcrowding from lack of space and equipment needs. With Federal Government assistance, Council was able to design and build a new library which was located in the Eltham Common and opened in May 1994.Background workings for the funding of a Public Hall at Eltham. The funding was provided by public subscription and the money loaned to Council to build the hall. The hall was part of the new Eltham Shire offices located at the corner of Main Road and Arthur Street. Tram 31 was built in 1917 by Duncan and Fraser of Adelaide. First owner was Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board, (MMTB) It came to Ballarat in 1935. When trams stopped running in 1971, it was purchased by Perth Electric Tramway Museum, Western Australia. The photograph the tram turning from Wendouree Parade in to Macarthur Street, View Point. A shelter is situated at this point. Tram 13 was built by Meadowbank Manufacturing Company, Sydney in 1915 for Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust, Tram 68. In 1928 it became Tram 30 of the Geelong Fleet. Transferred to Ballarat in 1938 and numbered 13. When the trams stopped in 1971 it was donated to the Lake Goldsmith Steam Preservation Society.
