Grindley crockery was made in England and the local Melbourne supplier to was Loftus Moran Pty. Ltd. Loftus Moran supplied to many hotels, guest houses and Victorian Railways.This distinctive crockery was used in the dining room at the Emerald Country Club, the local golf course, in the 1960s.Dining room crockery from the Emerald Country Club consisting of 4 saucers, 1 small bowl, 3 small dinner plates, 1 salt and pepper shaker. Donated by Dick and Alice Porter who managed the Club in the 1960s.The crockery is a honey ivory glaze with a decoration around the rim.All crockery is honey ivory with a decoration around the rim of blue-grey, tan and red-brown colour. The Emerald Country Club was established in the 1920s on part of the land originally owned by Carl Axel Nobelius who operated the Gembrook Nurseries from 1886. After Carl died in 1921 the nursery was sold to a syndicate who developed part of the property as the Emerald Country Club. The land was developed into a Country Club with a golf course, tennis courts and swimming pool and a housing estate. The Emerald Country Club house was completed in 1929. When the Club first started the membership was limited to those who purchased land in the surrounding estate.Silver plated jam spoon was owned by Gwen Jones who was employed at the Emerald Country Club during the 1940s.
