This 1966 edition of the Victorian Federation of State School Mothers' Clubs Rule Book was published by the Federation to standardise procedure in Mothers' Clubs across the state. In the 1960s, the V.F.S.S.M.C. was highly active in advocating for the improvements in state schools, which at the time were suffering from poor conditions caused by lacking funding, old buildings and little maintenance. The V.F.S.S.M.C. advocated for school libraries, specialist teachers and clerical help, smaller class sizes, and improving the safety of children at school crossings. The organisation was founded in 1925 as the Victorian Federation of Mothers' Clubs, rebranding to the name in this publication in 1959.
