A number of groups visiting Ballarat were interested in touring the facilities at the Ballarat School of Mines.White page with blue letterhead of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh's Third Commonwealth Study Conference Australia. A letter is handwritten to Principal of the Ballarat School of Mines, E..J. Barker, requesting a tour of the School, and the proposed Mt Helen Campus. The letter is signed by Alice Horner of the Ballarat Study Group Committee. Other members of the Ballarat Committee were J. Hanford Stevens, Jack Chisholm, J.T. Kilfoyle, Dr A. King and B. McOrist. This miner's right was glued onto a page in a large album of photographic images of early Ballarat. Recognising their significance the Council of the Old Colonists’ Association of Ballarat Inc. had them removed and restored. Tents or Buildings are not to be erected within twenty feet of each other, or within 20 feet of any Creek 5. Erected in the township of Miners Rest in 1920 in remembrance of fallen soldiers, this granite plinth cenotaph stands at the West end of an Avenue of Honour with 25 trees. The memorial is of Harcourt colonial granite, with bronze face plates, and contains the names of twenty-four soldiers of the district who sacrificed their lives at war. The monument was designed by the well-known sculptor, Mr F. W. Commons, and the work executed by returned soldiers employed at his studio on Creswick Road, Ballarat.The memorial is of historic and social significance to the people of BallaratGranite stone memorial including plaques on a bluestone base. 4 smaller granite posts and flag pole.
