This photo is another view of the brick Ticket Box (58.1) on the right side of main gates and next to the former Dane House. In 1999 the house was owned by Stawell City Council and used as the Community Neighborhood House. It was demolished some years ago. St Albans Railway Station was at one stage the terminus of the suburban electrification service, an honour that it lost to Watergardens Station (Sydenham) in 2002, and subsequently to Sunbury in 2012. With the increase in train traffic, both in suburban electrification service and in the country diesel service, the gates at the St. Albans Railway Station caused significant road traffic delays including causing several fatalities. The gates and the iron lacework over the top are distinctive.The arch under the flyover is also distinctive; the basalt keystone appears to have been cut from one single block of stone. Most of the gaol has been demolished to allow the School of Mines Ballarat to expand onto the site. The remaining structures at the site include the main gate, warden's residence and governor's residence. The Ballarat Gaol operated between 1862 and 1965. The complex was based on a central hall from which radiated wings of cells. This meant one guard could stand in the centre of the hall and see all the cells. Most of the gaol was demolished to allow the School of MInes Ballarat to expand. The remaining structures at the site include the main gate, the Warden's Residence, shown in the photo, and the Governor's Residence. These buildings are now used by Federation University. The gate shown in the photograph is located on the same wall as the large double main gate of the former Ballarat Gaol. Next to the gate is a watchtower with guard walk on top of the brick wall. This corner location provided the guards with a clear view into the gaol grounds and the street outside. Most of the gaol was demolished to allow for the School of Mines to expand. This watchtower remains along with the main gate, Warden's Quarters and the Governor's residence. Shows the east side shops between Arthur Street and Dudley Street and former Eltham Shire Offices. View is from the entrance of the Baby Health Centre. The roadway outside the gates was not made and was used for parking. The shops and an early fire station (near to left gate post) show the area before the Woolworths rebuilding of the area to Eltham.In February 1968 an unknown person took a series of photos from the Eltham Hotel at Pitt Street heading north along Main Road through the shopping centre to just north of Elsa Court covering the length of the section of Main Road which was duplicated shortly thereafter. The white painted cast iron gates are at the front entrance to St. Andrews Uniting Church and front onto the former Stawell Street in Sunbury. They were originally manufactured at the H.V.McKay Harvester Works in Sunshine. Over the years the gates fell into disrepair and were eventually restored and reinstalled at the original site.The church gates are of historical importance in Sunbury as a result of H.V.McKay's connection with the former Presbyterian Church. Goonawarra Primary School was opened in the early 1980s to accommodate children who were living in the Goonawarra Housing Estate. The Bulla Primary School was a semi-rural school in the Bulla township which was established in 1872. It was one of the first government schools to open in the district and continued to function for the following 124 years until December 1996 when the State Government closed the school. After that date, Bulla children were bused to schools in either Sunbury or Greenvale.
