This trophy was one by Rupert J. Rowe who was the foundation vice-captain of the Sunshine Harvester Works Golf Club. Rupert won the trophy in 1940, a year when World War II was getting underway. He knew Mr. Youngman's trophy would be a very expensive one and he asked that the value of the trophy be donated to patriotic funds. The donation was made, and the club decided to mount the winning ball on a blackwood timber base, which matched the timber of his furniture on his home. In 1906, Hugh Victor McKay moved The Sunshine Harvester Works from Ballarat to Sunshine. Two years later he provided nearly four acres for the gardens. These gardens were maintained by the company until this responsibility was transferred to the City of Sunshine in 1953.
