Some writing on the rear identifies the subject. 2/A typewritten letter, (1 page) dated 1946 (no date more specific than that specified), from the Chairman & Honorary Treasurer of the Caulfield Central RSL Appeal Committee (name unspecified) to the Mayor of Caulfield (name also unspecified), imploring the latter for a donation of $20,000 dollars for purposes of constructing a Memorial Hall to eulogize servicemen killed during WWII. Some rough working notes on rear side. 3/A flyer, undated (although presumably published in 1950), printed by Peter Isaacson Pty. Ltd., advertising a concert presented by the Ugly Ugly Man (Frank M. Beard) and the Malvern Tramways’ Harmonica Band to be held at Caulfield Town Hall on 06/06/1950 to assist the Welfare Funds of the Caulfield Central RSL and the Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen’s Mothers’ Association. Also contains an advertisement for a drapery business called Tallents. 4/The annual report of the Caulfield Central RSL, for the period 1952 – 1953. Contains announcements of the annual general meeting and annual elections, the President’s report (in which he principally discusses the club’s charity work and sporting activities), the subcommittee staff roster, the sportsmen’s honour roll, the annual accounts (e.g. balance sheet, income & expenditure statement) and the roster of nominees for office in the committee of management election. 5/A typewritten letter, (1 page) dated 26/11/1982, from Max Brian Blair, Treasurer of the Caulfield Central RSL, to Mr. R. Ron Bridger was an avid collector of items related to transport, predominately Trams. These items include newspaper cuttings, pamphlets, reports, timetables, fares prices plus special items relating to events. Items from Melbourne and regional Victoria, interstate - Adelaide and Sydney, plus overseas, make up this collection. The Annual Meeting of the Ballarat Tramways Preservation Society was held On Saturday, 10 August, 1974. The President of the Society, Mr Calnin, outlined the plans to have the trams back on the tracks by Christmas 1974. Thirty members had applied for training to crew the trams. A5 sized sheet of paper printed by photocopying, titled "Welcome Aboard the Cable Tram" giving details of the Melbourne cable tram set operated by the Museum during the 1987 Begonia Festival. Gives details of Grip car 593 (built new by Newton Williams) and trailer 171 (reconstructed by Darryl Hawksworth). Also gives general information about Melbourne cable trams and the Ballarat Vintage Tramway, in particular the horse tram. On bottom of sheet has a advertisement for the "Swiss Mountain Hotel", at the time operated by Darryl Hawksworth. Brochures were printed for the cable tram operation, handed out during the time run and during the following year, when operated as well. Photo shows a lady and a gent looking at the output of an accounting machine computer printer. The type of paper used had holes on the side for printer control and used a dot matrix output, with perforations so each sheet could be detached. This type of equipment was installed by the MMTB during 1957 - see 1957 Annual report page 33 for the printer in use at head office along with other machines and item 4509 for other photographs of the equipment of the time. Second photo shows a punch card operator at the punch card machine which were later used in accounting computations.Yields information about the type of computer machines used by the MMTB during the mid 1950s. The series of photos shows the February 1963 MMTB Float entered as part of the Moomba Festival which also coincided with a visit of Queen Elizabeth II. See item 8652 for a Certificate from the City of Melbourne recording the entry of the decorated float. In the background is the Continental Hotel on south-east corner of Lonsdale and Russell Street. This photo was used in the 1963 MMTB Annual Report. Photograph shows M&MTB Air Raid Van Reg 202-734 in 1941 probably in Royal Park. This photograph with accompanying text was published in the M&MTB's 1941 Annual report. This is a late 1930s Morris Commercial chassis with what is believed to be Preston Workshops body. Oddly enough the Registration Number is from earlier period. Plan No R5869 indicated a Chevrolet "Maple Leaf" chassis was the intended chassis choice in the planning stages. It is an official M&MTB photograph.
