Historical information
Based on the 1901-issued stamp, this postcard most likely originates from the 1900s. The featuring of the nursery - almost certainly Carl Axel Nobelius' nursery - in a postcard indicates its importance to the identity of Emerald in this time, becoming a recognisable major feature of the town. Dates written on the postcard suggest it could have been sent on the 27th of February, 1909, but given its message is wishing the recipient a merry Christmas this may not be accurate unless it was sent from Emerald in 1908 and then sent on from Beaconsfield in 1909.
Significance
This postcard captures a view of Nobelius' nursery in full operation, taken from a perspective of tourist appeal as a symbol of the town.
