The photograph was taken on board the English four-masted barque Crocodile which was a a regular visitor of the Port Phillip bay ports, transporting wheat from Australia to the UK.

A rare photograph of seamen's intimate life on board.
Physical description
Sepia photograph depicting two seamen sitting at a table in the galley of the ship Crocodile. In the background we can see the portholes of the ship. On the table, there is a loaf bread, tin cups and ware. One of the sailors is holding is forehead with his hand and the other one seems like is eating.
