The Emerald Golf Club began as the iconic Emerald Country Club which was set up as a country resort for the wealthy in the late 1920s. Following a period of financial difficulties and change of ownership it was renamed the Emerald Golf and Country Resort in the 1990s. It then operated for several years before winding up. Former members and a new manager re-established the club as the Emerald Golf Club in 2001, but that finally closed in 2017. These pennant flags relate to the club's success in Victorian Golf League competitions in 2009, 2010 and 2016.

This shield relates to that part of the Club's history when it was operating as the Emerald Golf Club. It records the winners of the Top Qualifier of the Matchplay Championship of the Emerald Golf Club from 2006 to 2013.

It records the winning team of a competition which was operating amongst Gippsland golf clubs and it covers the period of 2002 to 2013 after which the Emerald Golf Club may have stopped participating in this competition.

Shield-shaped ebony-colour. Made of chipboard with a faux timber veneer. In the centre of the shield is a silver plate. Surrounding this plate are 27 mini golf shields. The first eleven of these shields have the names of winning club and team members in the competition from 2002 to 2013 (2007 is missing). Sixteen have no inscriptions. On the back of the shield is affixed a wire loop to enable hanging the shield on a wall and a small label with the manufacturer's (or seller's) details.
