Honour Board - Emerald Golf Club Foundation Shield, c.2000s

Historical information

The Emerald Golf Club began as the iconic Emerald Country Club which was set up as a country resort for the wealthy in the late 1920s. Following a period of financial difficulties and change of ownership, it was renamed the Emerald Golf and Country Resort in the 1990s. It then operated for several years before winding up. Former members and a new manager re-established the club as the Emerald Golf Club in 2001, but that finally closed at the end of 2016. This shield relates to that part of the Club's history when it was operating as the Emerald Golf Club. It records the winners of the Top Qualifier of the Matchplay Championship of the Emerald Golf Club from 2006 to 2013.

The Emerald Golf Club was an integral part of Emerald's sporting and social history.
