Significance

This bell was the customer bell for the Emerald Butchers when it was run by Timothy James Madigan from late 1920s through to 1940s.
Madigan had bought the business from the original butcher, Robert Cooper. The butchers was situated near the corner of Main Road and Monbulk Road and had an abattoir at the back.
The bell was donated by Vera Madigan, daughter of T. J. Madigan.

Physical description

Customer bell for the former Emerald Butchers. Brass. Original handle which was metal has been replaced recently by polished wood handle.
