Significance

This is a photo of (presumably) an end of season ball for the Emerald Football Club in the old Emerald Hall before it was burnt down in 1955. The dress style suggests the photo was taken in the 1950s. Football clubs are an integral part of the social and sporting life of small country towns like Emerald.

Black and white, rectangular, printed on gloss photographic paper. Photo of over 100 men and women and two children in formal dress at an end of year ball for the Emerald Football Club circa early 1950s.

Inscriptions & markings

In the photograph at the back of the hall are two 'No Exit' signs and, in the middle of the back, a flag with 'MDFA/ Premiers / 1931' inscribed.
