The couple from this photo has gone through great hardship in the period they spent as refugees. They fled Southern Vietnam (Ca Mau) after the Vietnam War in late 1979 when the chinese have invaded and settled in Vietnam. They came on the #91 boat called Minh Hai 375 and arrived at the island on 10/22/1978. Prior to that they were ambushed by pirates who tried to rob, rape and completely take advantage of the vulnerable state the refugee people in. They recall having to purposely sink the boat so that they can be allowed into the country.This photo is great evidence to the family value Vietnamese refugees hold in the period of the period of fleeing the poor conditions that exists back in their country. People put their life online just to HOPE for a better life. Family portrait of a couple and first born child (son) in front of what look like their home at the time. This was taken at 1979 on the island called Pulau Bidong. It's a photo which has been laminated onto a light blue backing paper. Word of mouth (Half Moon Bay) 2018 is a two-panel work which is the largest painting the artist has made to date. It is a colourful and fun, light-hearted scene of an imaginative party that the artist would love to attend at Half Moon Bay in Black Rock. "Infant Department The interest in this branch of the school work (under the able guidance of Misses F. Chapman and A.E. Ratten) is well maintained. It is largely through the generosity of Nr. and Mrs. Griffiths that the officers were enabled to have a new brick school hall built. The foundation stone was laid on 21st October, 1905, by Mrs. John M. Griffiths, the new building being erected on the site of the old church. It is both attractive and comfortable and is well lighted. It is also used for the week-night services. The old building which for so long had served as a schoolroom for the little ones was not considered suitable and was in 1905 disposed of for removal. When removed it was renovated, and is now used as a mission church in a neighbouring district." Following the death of his only child Mervin on 23 December 1916 at Magdhaba Egypt, Mr Justice Higgins HB has a small number, possibly as few as six, of memorial books made. He sought permission from Signaller JC Campbell to use a selection of photographs taken at Gallipoli and Egypt. The photographs together with typed copies of several letters written by Captain MB Higgins 8th ALH make up the book. It seems likely this copy of the book was given to the 8th Light Horse Association for safe keeping. Following the closure of the Association the last secretary Mr Matthew Maynes entrusted the book to a relative Mrs Baily to be donated to the 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles.This is a rare, historic and artistic example of how one family sought to come to terms with the loss of their only child in the Great War 1914-1918.Leather bound album of 44 leaves containing collection of photographs taken by Signaller JC Campbell and typescripts of two letters written by Captain Mervin Higgins 8th Australian Light Horse AIF during WWI. This case was used by Captain Charles Arblaster, a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon, who served with the 8th Light Horse Regiment at Gallipoli where he was wounded and evacuated to the United Kingdom for treatment. He returned to Egypt and transferred to the 53rd Infantry Battalion and proceeded to the Western Front where he was wounded and taken prisoner of war at Fromelles on 20 July 1916 and died of wounds four days later. He was aged 21. His personal effects were returned to his family in this case. His diary was transcribed by Doug Hunter in 1997 and the original returned to the donor.A rare example of an officer's trunk used in WWI. It is well provenanced and of particular significance to his family, it being the case in which his personal effects were returned following his death. Ernest Butcher served as No 56 8th Light Horse Regiment. He died of wounds sustained during the August 1915 offensive at Gallipoli. He is buried at Ari Burnu Cemetery Gallipoli. The death medallion was mounted on a wooden panel by his nephew Arthur Butcher and presented to 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles on Anzac Day 1977. The 8th Light Horse suffered crippling casualties in the August offensive at Gallipoli. Maurice Miles served in the Australian Army in World War Two and was present at Cowra when the Japanese POW breakout occurred. He joined Citizien Military Forces in 1965, serving with 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles till 1985. This uniform was worn by Lieutenant Colonel J Allard who commanded 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles 1959-1962. Col Allard had served in the pre-WW2 militia, then in 2/4th Armoured Regiment (AIF). Following the war he joined the CMF and served as 2i/c 4/19 PWLH prior to taking command of 8/13 VMR. He maintained close contact with the Regimental Association and following his death in October 2018 at age 98 his family donated this uniform to the museum. The uniform was known as 'mess undress' but served as formal winter dress until 'mess dress' was made available in 1970s. 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles was equipped with M113 family of Armoured Fighting Vehicles ( AFVs ) from late 1970s to 1990s.Black and white photograph of two M 113 Armoured Personnel Carriers in an avenue of large trees. Location unknown but probably taken during 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles annual camp 1986.

In the 1950s there was a move to bring some light industries into Sunbury. The large building in Barkly Street, which was used to make gloves and other items of clothing was taken over by the Yakka Company and boys shorts were made there. In the 1960s the Yakka Company moved to new and larger premises in Broadmeadows resulting of the closure of the Sunbury factory.
