In 1952, the local Sunbury Progress Association sponsored the 'Back to Sunbury' celebrations which were held from 13th to 20th September 1952. The festivities celebrated 100 years of settlement (white) and provided a time for many long-time residents to get together. A.F. This half broken brick comes from the brickworks owned by Robinson Allison. The brickworks operated approximately between the years 1859 - 1883 on crown land near Watson's Road, Sunbury. Robert Charlton conducted a blacksmith, wheelwright and farrier business on the corner of Evans and Station Street, Sunbury from 1918 to 1940. The copy was taken from a photograph displayed in Mick Walsh's garage which is now on the above site.A black and white photograph of two sheds. Rosenthal Winery in Vineyard Road, Sunbury was one of the first wineries established in the area. It was owned by R. F. Kurrle. The roofless building still stands on the property which was part of the dairy farm owned by Tom and Angela Millett. On the afternoon of the 17th December 1985 torrential rain fell in Sunbury and surrounding areas which resulted in widespread flooding and caused disruption on the main Melbourne Bendigo Railway line. 'Craiglee' Winery was established by James Stewart Johnstone in 1865 and the property continued to function as a winery until the late 1920s. The vines were uprooted and the property was used for wool and fat lamb production. Heavy snow fell across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs, including Sunbury, on 25th July 1985. The two arch bluestone bridge which spanned the Jacksons Creek was replaced in the early 1970s with a wider double lane bridge. Dangerous curves were also taken out of the road. The recently completed building in the photograph is the Sunbury United Sporting Club's clubrooms, which is in Mitchells Lane, Sunbury. It was built for the local Sunbury soccer club in the 1980s.
