Poster, Reward Poster for the Capture of Peter Lalor and Black (copy), c1987
After the Eureka Stockade the government offered a reward for the leaders of the rebellion. Peter Lalor's name is incorrectly spelt 'Lawlor' in the poster, which suggests the correct pronunciation of Lalor.A Eureka Stockade reward poster as reproduced in Withers 'History of Ballarat'. The poster is black on white and relates to a 400 pound reward offered for Peter Lalor and Black after the Eureka Stockade. Peter Lalor is described as 5 feet 11 inches in height, age 35, dark hair, whiskers dark brown and shaved under the chin, no moustache, long face, rather good looking, and is a well made man. Black is described as over 6 feet tall, straight figure, slight build, bright red hair worn in a general rather long and brushed backwards, red and large whiskers, meeting under the chine, blue eyes, large thin nose, ruddy complexion, and rather small mouth.ballarat, eureka stockade, peter lalor, lalor, lawlor, black, william haines, haines, ballarat reform league, reward poster -

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS, Meena Bazaar for the Jug, Turner Audio Systems. DIRECTED BY, Miichael D. Edwards. DIRECTOR'S NOTE, The sexual power of women is all persuasive. If, as Germaine Greer says, they stopped loving the victors, there would be genuine revolution. The idea of a sex strike to stop a war seems preposterous.... What else is left to the aware but politically emasculated woman? Aristophanes, like us, had been appalled by a pointless and hopeless war. Outrageous indignation had failed to stop it - so he resorted to comic absurdity; perhaps to shame the warmakers. Our version of the play is colloquial and probably ' in vogue'. It is colorful, musical, flippant, and not a little risque. It is, however, based on an awareness of the power of sex roles and the arrogance of a male-dominated society and a profound sense of frustration at the apparently immovable forces that make our wars and enact repression in all its forms."ballarat teachers' college, production, state college of victoria, ballarat, gillies street, liz stubbs, joy dunstan, jenny tait, denise maroney, ann bilston, tina conroy, michael russo, tony ryan, terrence doran, shane quick, sue richards, anne gillies, glenda hamilton, janette marshall, gillian hogan, janine grieg, robyn stanseby, stephanie buchanan, janeen mccillough, wendy gray, elizabeth evans, mary staindl, barbara price, john rowe, jeff moore, stephen schneider, chris slater, peter hassell, errol elbourne, peter orford, keith mcdougall, terrance doran, robbie eastcott, gary oliver, david murphy, alex traianou, kim hatcher, steve albon, austin rickell, stuart tolliday, keith mcivor, bruce miller, ken jones, cheryl brown, ruth newall, michael d. edwards, norman lindsay -

Photograph - 4th Field Survey Squadron – Operation NERVOSE Driver Training and Pre-Pack, Keswick Barracks, Adelaide SA, 1985
This is a set of 28 photographs taken in 1985* during 4th Field Survey Squadron’s driver training preparation and packing at Keswick Barracks, Adelaide SA, in preparation for Operation NERVOSE. Operation NERVOSE 85 was mounted by 4 Fd Svy Sqn in the EAST ARNHEM, VICTORIA RIVER DOWNS AND DALY WATERS areas of the Northern Territory from 26 May to 18 Sep 85. The aim of Operation NERVOSE 85 was to finalise the horizontal and vertical control for mapping at a scale of 1:50,000, to field check 40x 1:50,000 preliminary maps and to obtain mapping photography in support of the RAAF TINDAL redevelopment project. *Note –These photos were most likely taken in 1985, contrary to the ‘1987’ date annotated on the negative sleeves. The Op NERVOSE 85 Project Report available on RASVY’s web site lists a nominal roll of personnel. Photos of 4 Fd Svy Sqn taken in 1985 and 1987 provide names of posted personnel. Several personnel identified in these photos were posted to 4 Fd Svy Sqn in 1985, not in 1987. See items 6504.13P, 6506.16P and 6507.20P for more photos taken prior to and during Operation NERVOSE 85.
