This bluestone store replaced a small wooden store on the cross roads site in 1858. Store owned by William Veale and his brothers Arthur and George . Originally built by Cecil Louisson. Photograph of Lake Bolac Flax Mill boiler house and pits in full production. The mill operated between 1942 and 1959 and was located on the shores of Lake Bolac. Local farmers grew flax which was transported into the factory to be processed. Lake Bolac Post Office Glenelg Highway. Initially the Post Office was established at the Store in 1868. This official weatherboard building was opened in 1887 incorporating a telegraph office, money order office and post office savings bank. The Post Office business was relocated in 1944 and the building was used as a private residence with the front room leased to Dennys Lascelles. Thomas Leach and Beatson Pitkethley married in 1880 and had a saddlery and sweet shop in this wooden building. This building was also the first Bush Nursing Centre in 1928. Bluestone home of Josiah and Mary Park built in 1890 by English stonemason James Murray. Josiah had the blacksmith business next door and built the house and stables to house his family of 12. The laundry and bathroom were detached and water was pumped from a large underground tank by a windmill manufactured in the blacksmith shop. The Lake Boloke Station bluestone woolshed is located 4 kilometres north of Lake Bolac on the Back Bolac Road. Originally the main woolshed for the station. The outlet for the overflow was originally cut in 1926 and concreted over in 1928. This photo shows flooding into Salt Creek in 1956 and looks towards the west and Rockbank. Boards were added to raise the water level of the lake. These were put in annually, below the walkway depicted, until in 1966 the level of the concrete weir was raised. Water skiing began at Lake Bolac in the mid-50's. This photo was taken in the 50's at the north beach before the construction of the Aquatic Club shed. Only one boat launching ramp has been built at this time.lake bolac, water-skiing, 1950's, aquatic club
