These vintage soap savers were used by the frugal housewife to use up pieces or slivers of leftover soap by swirling the soap saver in the water using up every last piece of soap.Three vintage wire mesh dish or clothes washing soap savers with a rectangular basket to contain the pieces of soap and a sliding wire clasp which allows opening and closing of the basket. Each holder has a thick long double wire handle to enable the user to froth the soap in a dish. These cherry pitters were used in the early 1900's. The Wandin area had many cherry orchards at the time.A cast iron and wood dual cherry pitter which can be mounted to a table or bench with claws tightened by a winged-head screw underneath. The handle has a wooden bulbous knob, two long curved steel shafts which when engaged, forcibly removes the stone or pit from the cherry. It has a rectangular cast iron trough for the unpitted cherries on the opposite end which is inclined. When the pit is removed it falls in to a small bowl you can place underneath and the cherries are pierced onto the prong to be removed by hand, falling again into a small bowl.GOODELL CO. The banana bottle is often referred to as the hygienic bottle, and is aptly named. It was the saviour of many hand reared babies in early 20th C. It's ease of cleaning was a major breakthrough in nursery hygiene. The basic design was around for about 50 years. It first made its appearance around the mid 1880's. The first true banana feeder with a teat and valve was invented in 1894 by Allen and Hanbury's. In the next 15 years the model was modified over a series of four slightly different models. Flagons are vessels with a handle and spout used to hold alcoholic beverages, usually wine.
