It contains a black and white photograph of Glen Eira with a brief history of the residence and owner on P 2 plus an article on P 3 about the bequest from the late Rudolph Ashley Ricketson for the Ashley Ricketson Centre in the hospital. Demolition of the mansion occurred in 1965. Newspaper article (source & date unknown) about the bequest from Ashley Ricketson of $10.5 million to the Southern Memorial Hospital in Caulfield. It is on the site of Glen Eira, demolished 4 years prior. This file contains four items. Short hand-written notes on Hon. J. Alsten Wallace’s business activities, including a note on his marriage to the second daughter of Thomas Monahan taken from Cooper’s St Kilda Typed notes with hand-written annotations on QUAT QUATTA, the house bought by John Alston Wallace c. 1875-6. The document details the interior and exterior of the house, and mentions renovations and its use for wedding receptions. Also noted is information on Wallace’s place of birth, migration, marriage, number of children and the date of his wife’s death, taken from the Australian Representative Men Vol. 1. In 1866 William Bridgeford became the first pupil to be enrolled in the Victorian Asylum and School for the Blind. Originally details were required to be entered by hand, however in 1867, a form was used to record this information and stuck to the pages of the register. This register contains the handwritten entries of admission of: registration number, name of pupil, admittance date, where pupil had been sent from, religious denomination, father's name and address and mother's name and address (if different). Admission forms recorded the following information: name, sex, birth date and location, current residence, religion, trade, name/age/trade/nationality/religion and address of parents, cause and length of blindness, family history of blindness, health of applicant, occupation and income of applicant's parents and ability to pay. The register contains entries from No. 1 William Bridgeford to No. 99 Robert Munro. Limited searching is available to the poor condition of this register.1 v.
