This photo is of Neddy Wheeler - Dhudhuroa man and language informant to RH Matthews. The photo was taken at Lake Moodemere. Neddy spent the latter part of his life here, especially after his Wife Charlotte and children Thomas, Harry, Dolly and Kate were taken from him in the Kiewa Valley and taken to Lake Tyers.The Aboriginal Protection Board would provide travel passes for him to visit his Country. Lanercost Priory was founded around 1169 by Robert de Vaux, and was home to an order of Augustinian canons until 1538 when is was dissolved by Henry VIII. In 1542 the priory and lands were granted to Thomas Dacre, an illegitimate son of Thomas, Lord Dacre. Mason's marks can be found throughout the undercroft. This note has the names of British/Australian soldiers who served in WWII written in English on both sides. Five Yuan note from the Central Bank of China.
