From 01 July 1990 the Gippsland Institute became the Monash College Gippsland. Federation University Australia was established on 1 January 2014. The Councils of Monash University and Gippsland Institute of Advanced Educaiton agreed to the Gippsland Institute becoming an affiliated institution of Monash University.
